not very exciting at all, but i wanted to post what i've done, regardless πŸ˜€
apologies in advance for the vast mix of quality/lighting/any heavily edited photos

my natural colour, just before first dying it in 2009. i'm a dark blonde/light brown which has warm tones & a tendency to go rather blonde in the sun.

summer 2009 - hairdresser's job, layer of crazy color capri blue under my fringe πŸ™‚

summer 2010 -same hairdresser, same idea, but this time i used rusk scream's orange blast (i think!)

much as i liked orange, it faded out pretty quickly to leave this hideous, curry-powder-yellow colour in my fringe :L

to try and cover the yellow, my hairdresser used what he called a "dark blonde toner", which in reality came out a medium-ish brown... i was surprised to find this shade matched my colouring better than my own natural colour :L

summer 2011 - i missed my blue hair, so went for it again. this time, my hairdresser put in more colour and used crazy color sky blue. i'd been growing my hair for about 6 months at this stage, look how it's grown :')

late september 2011, i was heading to uni & decided i couldn't be bothered with the upkeep of my blue fringe. cue blonde t-bar highlights, which i have since decided i didn't really suit. oh well πŸ™‚

christmas 2011 - decided i'd had enough of blonde and was dying to go ginger with blonde dip-dye. the result was even nicer than i'd expected, i LOVED it.

the bright ginger faded out relatively quickly to a more subtle, auburny-browny shade.

at the end of january, i bought directions coral red with the intention of applying it over my ginger base to make it a more vivid orange. five hours later i had bright red hair, which was surprisingly pinky for the first few washes!

coral red gradually faded into a more reddy/orange colour.

i had a 70% voucher for a semi-permanent dye at a different hairdresser's in my university city which was about to go out of date, so with my hair still reddy-orange, i went along and came out with the vivid ginger i'd been aiming for in the first place πŸ™‚ the hairdresser said she used a mix of "orange crush" and some other ginger colour... no idea what brand, but she did say they contained peroxide.

the vividness of the orange unfortunately faded pretty quickly back into the ginger/auburn/brown base colour, so i got this touched up and kept it for the rest of spring.

as soon as june hit, i decided to celebrate summer by re-doing my coral red πŸ™‚

i've been red for a couple of weeks now, it's a pretty good cover-up for my roots, which really need done :L when it's faded enough i'm going to attempt bright ginger again, hopefully by using mandarin over the ginger base this time, with a coral red dip-dye πŸ˜€

I like that blue-brown combination πŸ˜€ those kind of looks make me think for a second about growing some of my own hair out (and move on the moment I realize I could never....) :3
