home made hair treatment

Until very recently my hair was white blond. In order to get it to this colour I had to bleach frequently. My hair has taken a beating, almost to the point of no return. This included a hair cut to remove dead an split ends. I'm now using anything I can get my hands on in order to try and prevent any further damage.

After some research I stumbled upon the fact that Shea Butter is not a moisturiser but more a sealant, preventing further moisture escaping. So I've made my own treatment and I have to say that its working really well for me.

To be used on damp hair.

a mixture of Jojoba and Avocado oil massaged into the hair and scalp. Then take a small amount of unrefined Shea Butter, rub in your hands until it turns to oil, massage through your hair. And leave it as long as you feel necessary, I generally sleep with it in and wash in the morning.

Simple πŸ™‚ This has really helped to moisturise my hair and costs much less than most treatments I've paid for.

Bubzbeauty had a video on a hair mask that seems like it might be nice, though I wouldn't know because I've never had dye-dead hair. I can't post a link since I'm new, but search "HAIR MASK" on youtube and it's the first result.

1/2 Alvocado
1 Egg yolk
1 tsp Olive oil
(Enough for 2 applications for med-long hair)

1. Apply evenly to hair in chunks, make sure to saturate the hair
2. Put on a shower cap and leave for 30 mins or more
3. Shampoo and condition as normal
4. Run cold water over hair for 30 seconds afterwards
5. Press dry, don't rub or ruffle or comb through the hair, let hair air dry

Someone should try this out and let us know how it goes. =)

I use this all the time, i bleach my hair a lot and it really helps. It is a wonderful method that dates back to the aztecs. I'm from mexico and its a very popular conditioning technique over there. you can leave it on for longer if your hair hair is very damaged but i wouldnt suggest having it on for over an hour. it tends to get greasier since its oil and the avocado realeases more oil so it begins to drip under the cap elastic. ( or maybe my showercap isnt very good :S)
also make sure the avocado pieces get squished properly or they wont go down the shower drain.
