Oops, I'm a mermaid

So I have turquoise hair, which was intentional but somewhat of a happy surprise as well!

I've ordered some SFX with the intention of going from pink to blue, however it hasn't arrived yet, so today I got impatient, dug out some MP After Midnight Blue and decided to go for it. I didn't really wanna use it because my hair doesn't really like MP and it never really sticks, we will see how long it stays.

Obviously this is heavily diluted After Midnight Blue, however I'm still really surprised at how turquoise it turned since it's a purple based blue. I got a little bit of undiluted dye on my gloves and it's SO freakin purple. o_O My hair was really silvery underneath and anyway the mix looked turquoise in the bowl, I have no idea how that happened but I'm so happy with the results! I wasn't sure it would work either, because it was hard to get the color into my hair, it looked like it was too light to give an even result, you know? There were patches of silvery blonde in there, but what do you know, I rinsed it out, and bam, perfect and even. πŸ˜€

The pictures are from my webcam so they don't really do the color justice, I feel it's slightly brighter in person and it even looks kind of minty green towards the ends. Mermaid hair for sure! πŸ™‚ I also added a pic of my silvery hair, although that pic's about a week old, and it wasn't as purplish as this when I put the blue in, it was truly silver, probably a little darker than this, more on the greyish silver side -- just so you know what color my hair was before I dyed it!

Also, apologies to those of you who were kind enough to give me advice on how to achieve ombre hair, and here I am not doing it! I decided it wasn't for me after all, maybe another time. πŸ™‚

Love this, it's stunning! I really wish I suited pastels better... because I love the look of it, just not on me.  πŸ˜‰

Cupcake - I know exactly what you mean! I absolutely adore how pastels look on other people, but I know from experience that darker colours and jewel tones suit me better!  And Nova - I LOVE this colour on you!  It looks so gorgeous!

Thank you all, you're all so sweet! πŸ™‚

And Cupcake and Mindi, I see your point, although I do think pastels are an acquired taste. πŸ˜‰ I naturally have dark hair so when I first started dying my hair unnatural colors I stuck to darker shades ( Deep Purple and Blue Velvet were my first successful attempt ), up until about 4 years ago when I decided I HAD to have pastel pink hair. And it really worked for me, most people said it looked better on me than my natural dark brown. It did take a bit of getting used to though, and roots are a right pain to keep up with, but it's so worth it!

I guess it also depends on what style you identify with, I feel like I can pull off a lot of colors, and I really don't mean that in an arrogant way just that I'm kind of a style chameleon so I feel like I'm being myself with most hair colors, if that makes sense? πŸ™‚

Hahaha!  It's definitely not lack of trying lighter colours for me!  I've been dyeing my hair unnatural colours for 20 years now!  I've never done pastels, mostly because my hair doesn't bleach easily and I can't get a pale enough colour for the base, but I have been platinum blonde, and it doesn't suit me at all.  Darker colours are much better on me!  But I do love the pastels on you, and do sometimes wish I could get my own hair light enough to give pastels a go properly!

Haha I wasn't trying to convince you or anything, you really do look like you were made to have darker hair, that black looks gorgeous on you. πŸ™‚

Although I do find blonde is different, I look really weird as a blonde, definitely can NOT pull that off! Although weirdly enough, silvery white looked really good one me. Like as a blonde all I can see is, Oh my god seriously dark eyebrows, I don't see that with pastels or silvery white, it kinda works.

I don't know, maybe it's an unnatural color thing, I really do think that most people suit all unnatural colors, they're generally easier to pull off because you know, no one's gonna assume you were born with green hair or something. πŸ˜‰

Awww! thank you!
I have tried to get to silver (mostly because my roots come in around 25-30% grey now, and I thought if I could get to silver I could go white gracefully!), but it just didn't work.  I couldn't get a light enough base without destroying my hair, so I chose the safe and less damaging option of black!  I figure when the white roots totally take over, I'll just rock a white to black dip-dye look!

But that's enough about me, I don't want to take over your thread!  And you do seem to suit the pastels beautifully!  πŸ˜€

Nova, it's fun to know you're naturally dark haired.  I would have never guessed because the pastels look completely natural on you!  πŸ™‚

For me, I feel like pastels look very unnatural on me - just wrong I guess (which is really funny considering I like unnatural colours, LOL!!!).  I'm in the camp of feeling like the jewel tones and darker colours suit me best.  It's not for a lack of trying!  I was a pale shade of pink for a while this summer, but I had a black under layer.  That seemed to be okay and I did get a lot of compliments on it.  Then I was mint green after using a colour remover on turquoise and I really hated it on me.  πŸ˜›
