More and more people are turning to dreadlocks as a funky style these days. Personally I find that awesome as I've had dreads for over 3 years now. The trouble is, everyone wants them but dunno what to do with them! So where do you start?

Well I thought if anyone had any ideas on:

1) Natural dreads (like wot I got)
2) Synthetic dreads (like wot Pippa got)
3) Styling dreads or
4) Anything dreadlock-ish that I missed

Then maybe you can post it in here so we can all take a lookie.

If you have (or want) natural dreads and need help you can always ask me. If you want to dye them look here:

If you want to get natural dreads look here:

If you want to style them or have photo's of dread styles please post away!

There are some awesome tutorials on youtube for making synth dreads and installing them. I'll be trying three colour transitionals for Sonisphere πŸ˜€ Purple to pink to orange <3

I make and sell synthetic dreads. Have been on the HEF forum for years and have started selling online now. I mainly made dreads for friends and local people.
These are what I made over the easter weekend:

I love individual synthetic dreads because it gives my hair a major change without the commitment. Here's my $0.02:

Pros: Once they're in, styling your hair is quick and easy.
They are badass! (of course!)
Most people love them. I get more compliments on them than I do my real hair.
It's fun to switch from short/medium hair to long hair and back again.
No commitment, because you can just take them out and still have your normal hair.

Cons: If you use the braiding method to install individual strands, as oppossed to dread falls, it can take hours and overtightening can cause scalp irritation.
Washing just your scalp can be difficult and the extensions take hours to dry.
It can be difficult to remove smells from them without washing them.

I have Elysee Star extensions. They're the only ones I've ever bought and I'm happy with them, so I don't have much to say as far as other brands and comparisons. They do seem to be skinnier than other extensions that I've seen, but that's why I like them.

As for styling, I like to wear half up, half down or all up in two sloppy buns. One big makeshift french braid in the back is also fun.
