I've had people come up to me and say 'you'd look pretty if you didn't have all that metal in your face' I just stood there like 😮 If I had more guts I would reply 'you'd be prettier if you didn't have such an ugly attitude' but I'm not brave enough haha!
Also once when I was walking my son to school some guy leaned out of his van and yelled right in my face 'urggg what the **** is that'. Why do people think its ok to speak to people like that?!!

My mods never really seem to phase people much (maybe because I work in Birmingham which has a massive alternative scene so it's nothing new) and people seem to find my hair more amusing than offensive. But when we go away we get some funny reactions - we went to Wales recently and got gawped at the whole time, I just try and smile and be friendly and try not to rise to it....I kind of feel a bit like if I make a good impression and they realise I'm smart and a good person, that they might be a bit less judgemental next time they encounter someone who looks "different", I know I shouldn't have to do that but it's life unfortunately. I feel exactly the same when we go out on the horses - people think horse riders are snotty spoilt princesses, so I'm always overly polite and smiley if a car slows down for us, in the hopes that next time they encounter a horse and rider they will drive considerately (and not throw an apple core at the horse while driving past at 90 miles am hour like someone did to a friend of mine recently! 🙁 )

I recommend this book:
http://www.amazon.co.uk/Gothic-Charm-School-Essential-Guide/dp/0061669164/ref=sr_1_5?s=books&ie=UTF8&qid=1371934393&sr=1-5&keywords=gothic
I know not all 'alternative' people are goths, but this book is extremely hilarous and very good at explaining how actually, it's far more subversive to be polite and charming as a goth, as this is entirely not what people expect!

Thank you for that link, Mindi!  I think it's terrible how some people stare and ask things that are none of their business... we've encountered that as well.  🙁  I try to be polite and hope to have an opportunity to share that I'm intelligent and courteous and not just some thug with ink and metal everywhere.  It's hard though, because I'd like to be a snotty, snarky bitch and say things to make them feel uncomfortable and stupid right back!!!  Instead, I feel weak and defenseless because if I'm anything but polite and courteous, it just feeds that negative stereotype even more.  -r-

I often get called a goth which is funny as I have blue hair, a tan and I hardly ever wear black (I'm far more likely to be dressed head to toe in clashing colours!) I don't mind being called a goth, but its almost as if I look a bit different but idiots don't know how else to pigeon-hole me so they call me "goth"! It's very strange!

I think the best instance of people's closed mindedness towards my modifications was when I went on holiday with my boyfriend last summer to Venice - the plane was packed but no one wanted to sit next to us, they were eyeballing our combined amount of ink (which is fairly considerable I guess if you're not that way inclined!) avoiding all eye contact and scurrying off down the plane....thanks guys, I really enjoyed having extra space to stretch out! 🙂

Had the weirdest, creepiest thing happen to me today. Me and my friend were sitting in Starbucks, drinking coffees and talking about movies. I had a fairly big bag so I put it next to my chair, just slightly out of sight but my shoes were touching it. Looked down at one point and my bag had gone, which scared me as I am usually so careful and vigilant.

Had a massive freak out. Then we looked over at the other side of the Starbucks, where people pick up their coffees, and there's like a shelf where people pick their coffees up...my bag was on there. Completely unexplained. Nothing missing. Asked the barrista "who moved this bag here" and got a completely unhelpful "we are not responsible for people's bags" (as if that's what I even asked??). Legged it out of there, totally freaked out that someone would just randomly move my bag...

My friend noticed a creepy guy standing by the bag. He left a few secs before us, and we saw him staring at us across the street. My friend said the whole time I was in the Starbucks he was staring at me but she thought nothing of it, and he was standing by the bag when I found it. He was also standing behind me at one point, and he had a really long umbrella with a hook on the end. Basically, we think the guy covertly took my bag with his hook and moved it for some unknown purpose, He didn't even order or buy anything from the Starbucks and left empty handed.

Either he moved it to steal it later (although eh didn't hide the bag, it was out in the open when we found it ON a table) or he had some weird "hey I found your bag" designs. Or maybe it was some weird "watch your stuff" lesson. But seriously, what the hell? Who does that?

Bought some nice flared trousers from ebay, in a size bigger than I am because I like my trousers baggy - and I couldn't even get them up past my thighs! And I've not put on any weight whatsoever. Really disappointed! They're labelled as a size 14 (I'm a small size 12) but there's no way they're that size, they're about a small size 10 I'd say 🙁

Ugh just been payed, may as well not have been. My wages were s**t this month but thankfully my team have upped themselves this month so we have hit target, meaning next months pay will be better.
Also my hand keeps swelling up, the fleshy part between the base of your thumb and your hand, like the join part. So painful.
And my manager is at the company's roadshow and the regional manager is there who is FIT and apparently he's got a sexy white top on 🙁 and I'm sat here in a big pile of floral mess, with greasy hair and an untidy house WAAAA

edit - oh and my car has just cost me £70. FABBBBB
