contemplating a wig for work

I've been going back and forth about dying my hair a fun color but with my job it has to be a "natural" color, so I'm thinking my only option here is to wear a wig while im at work and then i can have whatever color i want, maybe a rainbow! I'm just looking for advice on where to find a quality wig that can withstand daily use and if its something that i could actually stick with. I don't want to spend money on a wig and then end up hating it and dying my hair back to a natural color. I'm probably all over the place with this post but any thoughts??  *anyone*

I can't really help with where to buy a wig. What I will say is though, buy a really cheap wig and see if you can stand wearing that for a few hours. They can be uncomfortably hot for some people. I can't stand wearing a wig for even an hour on a really cold day, but I'm extreme πŸ™‚

It would be easier to get a colourful wig or extensions, and keep your hair natural for work

I agree, even good wigs give me tension headaches. At least if you get some fun wigs for going out in you can whip them off if they start bothering you- if you're wearing one for work you're stuck in it all day. I used to have loads of different clip in 'flashes' (those like single clip streak extensions) in different colours when I used to go out a lot, you can get ones on ebay that you can heat style and if you cut into the ends a bit they don't look too fake!

the streaks would be a great idea if I didn't have a short pixie cut, lol. It think I would look a bit funny!! I'm still mulling it over, I used to do a lot of acting as a kid and I was constantly in wigs, and it didn't seem to bother me then so I'm just going to get a cheap one like Janine said and test it out for a week or 2. If I absolutely hate it then i'll have to look into maybe getting colored hairspray or hair chalk or something.

Ah, my hair was short at the back but had an asymmetric long bit at one side at the front when I used the streaks so I just cut them to slightly longer than that, but I guess if all of your hair is short you wouldn't be able to blend them in very well, but you'll prob get a better effect from using sprays or gels with colour in than someone with longer hair I guess.

Yeah, no harm in trying - I'm particularly sensitive to having uncomfortable stuff on (like I NEVER have shoes on for that reason, I drive my boyfriend mad with it! haha!) so I'm prob thinking it'll be worse than it actually will!

haha, my wife is the same way!! She even has to flip her socks inside out because she gets irritated by the little bit of fabric that is by the toes on the inside of sock, I think she's crazy sometimes!

But I will try a few methods out and hopefully be able to post some pictures of my results with sprays and chalk, I'm keeping my fingers crossed  *1*

Yes!!! I wear all my socks inside out! (and my undies to be honest!) My boyfriends laughs his head off at me!

Cool, looking forward to seeing your experiments!

Yeah, I'm the same. I get irritated by zips, seams, bits of thread sticking out. My boyfriend thought I was being over the top until one day he noticed the raw red marks caused by a label in the back of my leggings!

That's it, I'm not being feeble about it, they really do cause harm to me! I'm the worst with shoes, I get painful blisters pretty much every time I walk anywhere no matter how comfy my shoes and socks are supposed to be! Metal buttons on jeans leave marks on me too, as does most jewellery! I mostly live in pajamas (with the labels cut out of course) and bare feet, and don't even get me started on bras!

Normally I don't have any issues with buttons or zippers or anything like that, but when I read your post about bras lauralei, I had to laugh because I just got back from 5 days at the beach and even with applying layers of 50spf sunblock I still ended up with a nice lobster burn on 50% of my body. Damn this pale skin I have!!! So at the moment any type of clothing is extremely painful to wear. If I could rip my bra off at work right now I would do it in a heartbeat, lol. There is not enough aloe vera in the world to soothe this burn!!!

Urgh I was like that when I got back from Spain a couple of weeks ago, but luckily I work from home so I didn't have to suffer the horror of bra straps! You have my sympathy! (do you have a strapless bra? I had to wear strapless for a month whilst getting my chest piece worked on as my collar bones kept bruising up!)

I do have a strapless bra, that might help, my wife also told me I should just wear my bathing suit top since it would be the most comfortable and wouldn't hit any of my burnt spots. Today it is better than yesterday and hopefully by the weekend I will start the dreaded itchy phase of sunburn, I hate that feeling but at least I know its healing when I get the itchies (if that's a term) lol.

Actually one of the strapless bras I wore while getting my tatt worked on/ healed was actually a bikini top! Ugh I always end up picking and peeling mine when it gets itchy, I'm too gross!
