Hi, i'm new here. *boo* i need advice. I want to dye my hair purple, but first i had to bleach it.
Monday i bleached my hair for the first time. I ran out of bleach and i only did my roots. No prob, i bought other bleach and wednesday i bleached the rest of my hair. BUT i ran out of bleach AGAIN! So the back of my head looks horrible.
At first i was concerned about the purple not covering it evenly, but today i made a strand test ( i used directions-plum) and it came out blue....
Should i mix it with a pinkish-red shade? Just tell me what to do π
I wouldn't use plum. The latest batch is fading to royal blue and then it's sticking at that, so even if you do get it purple, you will probably end up with a blue.
Do you want a blue or pink purple?
I plan on dying it a darker color in september, so i don't really mind if it becomes blue.
I read on another forum that if you mix plum with a pink shade it becomes purple, so i wold like to know if it's true.

It would be purple, but the blue fade of the Plum is so strong that unless you mixed it with an equally strong pink shade it would probably continue fading to blue. The strongest pinks I know of are Manic Panic Hot Hot Pink and Special Effects Atomic Pink. Keep in mind, though, that with any of these colors you will risk the shade becoming nearly permanent.
Add pink to a purple or blue, of course it'll go pink. It's just like mixing paints. But as Piscine says, it's very likely to go permanent. To go darker than the blue or a purple that it sticks at, it'll pretty much have to be black.
As most of your hair is orange, putting blue (or purple that fades to blue, which Plum does after a few washes) over it will create brown. You need to correct your base before attempting any colour, or you will have ugly muddy patches where the darkest orange/brown is now.
