Hi everyone!
My hair colour has faded and I only want to use a semi-permanent for the first time because I intended to get it professionally dyed later on so I'm using this now for a special occasion next week! It's the Superdrug Colour Episode semi-permanent dye in 5.4 Natural Rich Chestnut to just cover up a lot of fading in my hair colour.
In the past I have been several colours including bleaching to blonde from brunette then going back. My hair is quite damaged at the bottom with split ends (soon to go!) and overall I wouldn't say my hair condition is 100% (more like 60% :-[)
On the box it says "Not suitable for bleached, highlighted or damaged hair"
Is there a specific risk I could inherit from using this? As far as I'm aware I've never seen this warning on my permanent box dyes before!
Please help! Thank you all xxx
I think it just says that because it might not fade in 6-8 washes on previously processed hair.
They can also be sucked up and end up a lot darker on bleach damaged hair.
It is often on permanent dyes though. I think dye companies want to avoid possible litigation etc from people with bleached hair as it's a harder to predict results on bleached hair.
All of the above plus it isn't going to come out the colour on the front of the pack on bleached hair. The dye is designed to be used over hair with pigment in, so on a bleached base is likely to look more orange/unnatural.
If you want a longer lasting natural coloured direct dye i would look at Adore (sold here) they have loads of shades and last a lot longer than the Superdrug dyes
