So I have loved the pink and purple hair that I've had but I really miss my bright red hair.
So I'm fading my violet by directions out and my hair has got purple, pink and bits have gone blue :/
Which I know that  blue is very hard to get out. I've been using head and shoulders to fade and I've got a colour remover to use. Anyone got any other ideas? X

Erm so my hair is turquoise and blue from removing that dye via colour b4 :/ got on a vitamin c treatment and gna do another colour b4 again but can't have blue for work

I'll upload a photo when it's dry but two colour removers and my hair is now turquoise and a muddy light green! I want to go red

Whatever you do, do not bleach it or you could end up with green. Try more colourb4 but you might have to be prepared to put pink on it for now to get a purple again, then start adding red as it fades. I'm afraid it's not always a quick process getting from one colour to the next. At least blue is on the way to red and doesn't directly cancel it out to make mud.

I repeat though, don't panic and add bleach. Green is the last thing you want to get to red. It's directly opposite red on the colour wheel and that will make mud brown.

Edited to add after seeing the last post...

Add pink. You'll get a brown on the green parts, but at least that'll be easy to get red over.

I know you're panicking, but please follow the rules and don't double post πŸ™‚ you don't get answers any quicker I'm afraid! Instead, go in and modify your posts. I'll have to go back and merge the other posts now.

A edited to add, actually, you can probably just put red over it now. You'll get a bit of a dodgy brown over the green parts, but the red will go a purple/burgandy/wine shade. It's probably thr best you can hope for now.

I'm a bit worried that if it's already turning green then it'll just get more green. That is the absolute opposite of what you want. You really would be better off now just adding a red over what you have. If you add an orange based red it should tone out more of the blue and make it a truer red.

I'm going to have a better look in the day light as I think looks much lighter more a mint turquoise colour.
Any tips on how to make my hair not stink? Lol x

Special Effects will prob mostly cover that I reckon, but it'll be more purple over the bluer bits and more burgundy over the greener bits. If you want a warmer toned red Nuclear Red has more orange tones than the other two so it might cancel out the blue a bit better and be a bit less purple? You may have to do some strand tests and mix a couple of colours to get the right effect, I know I used turquoise to dampen down the brightness of my red when I went from Nuclear to a more natural ginger so it will probably affect your outcome a bit whatever you use.

Damn, I answered this already and it disappeared! That's highly annoying.

I said, stop using colour remover and fading, you're going to start damaging your hair. They aren't all that damaging, but damage accumulates quickly when you force fade too much.

I also agree, red will go over that. It will be darker on the roots probably, but not too bad. You made it sound like the green was like olive green, this is nothing when it comes to covering with red πŸ™‚

Though I love nuclear red, if you want to change again anytime soon, it's a pain in the neck to get out.

That's true, SFX reds are a swine to fade, and Nuclear, whilst the actual redness does fade, stays highlighter bright but just in pink, peach and orange! (and sometimes when I accidentally overlapped it with bleach baths when doing my roots it ended up a really alarming neon yellow!), if you like changing your colour up a lot you may be better with a different dye.
You'll prob get good coverage when you first colour it anyway as reds are pretty forgiving, you just might get an uneven fade where the different colours are.

I've not tried Devilish or Cherry Bomb, I only tried Nuclear or Candy Apple but they both had very good coverage (they even covered bits where my bleach hadn't taken where it was still light brown/ very dark blonde but these bits would show through as it faded), but like Janine said they are very stainy so you'll be stuck with red/ ginger/ brown as your options for a while if you use them if they are anything like the SFX shades I tried. Vermillion is a good red from what I remember, maybe you could mix something from the SFX and that?

I don't mind it staying I love being red. I feel more me with red hair πŸ™‚ I've ordered nuclear red so will see if it comes tomorrow (fingers crossed) if it doesn't I'll use vermillion red as I did two test patches on some hair and the vermillion red was a nice reday.  Then  the devilish came out very pink. Which is odd as never has befoee always just looked red on me. But I'll go with what I said πŸ™‚ thank u people and I will let u know how I get on

Don't under estimate the appeal of other colours, even when it's one you love πŸ™‚ Once you've started to experiment it's hard to resist the pull of the other colour (as you've already had here!).
