I'm wanting to dye my hair violet Manic Panic but scared it will be a nightmare to go back to "normal" hair colour when I'm bored...
So is it possible to dye hair brown over a faded purple and it come out ok? Or do I have to strip it first? I don't want to go purple and then get stuck with a muddy gross colour for ages when I no longer want purple hair.

What base are you planning to put the purple over? Bleached? Virgin? If virgin, what is your natural colour?

I had purple hair which I dyed dark brown and it turned out fine. I did use permanent hair dye though.
