pink/red colour

Okay I can’t seem to get a balance in my hair that I’m happy with, but I’m worried because I have a wedding to go to in 3 weeks where I am going to see a lot of people who I fell out quite badly with, I’m pregnant so they’re already going to have lovely comments to say about the fact I’m not a tiny size 6 anymore so I don’t really want to give them anything to say about my hair.
I put a red box colour over my brown hair which had been fading in patches, after around 2 weeks maybe less, that red had faded in the same patches and the other parts of it just looked bleurgh so I thought that I’d just keep a top up semi of cc cyclamen (which on the front looked a nice red colour) which has turned my hair pink, obviously as the colour is actually more pink than red inside the bottle! Last night I did my top up to refresh the colour just through my pony tail because the rest didn’t look like it had faded at all and now my hair is all over the place haha, the ends are now a brighter pink than the top of my hair so it must have faded more than I thought. I don’t really want to go down the route of another box colour or do a colour remover as I’m happy to stay a pinkier red, as long as it is going to be a pinky red and not just pink. I bought 2 bottles of cc cyclamen so I could avoid going into town all the time so I am happy to be using that in with a red, but what red would be nice mixed in with it? I’ve attached a picture of my hair as it is right now and also the dress I’ll be wearing to the wedding.
Thanks for helping, I just cannot catch a break with balancing my hair colours out over the last year and they seem to keep going wrong (bright blue, bleach damage, odd roots and now fadey parts  *ott*)

Pink-red hair would look gorgeous with that.

I'd say go for Directions Poppy and maybe mix it with the Cyclamen, since we're still waiting on SFX's pink-reds to come back in to stock.

Thanks I'll give that a try 🙂 I changed my dress in a bit of a brain fart when I ordered it today but it's now a really dark blue maxi so I think the colour would still suit!

ETA - I couldn't find any directions poppy in the shop but I picked up a rubine which the lady suggested, it looks so dark in the pot and the sample online was nice so I thought I'd be safe with this....it's still pink. I washed it with fairy twice before putting it on to try and balance out the colour I had which looked as thought it was about the same all over, do I just put the rubine all over again? Maybe without any conditioner in it?

Also, is it particularly likely I'm going to be able to match my extensions (light-ish brown) to the colour I'm eventually happy with? I'd like to wear my extensions to the wedding, it's no big deal if not I'd just like to be able to wear them again soon lol

You could try CC vermillion (I am not sure if they still do this anymore) but its an orange red which will contact the pink in the red you have now and make it more of a true red. Iff CC have discontinued that, try another orange based red from another brand (I'm sure someone may have a suggestion)

Rubine and CC cyclamen are both pink based, no matter how much you put on you'll still get that pink

I don't mind it staying a bit pink I'd just prefer MORE of a red with a pink tint maybe? lol

Rubine is a great dye, it covers well, even on virgin hair and it really lasts. BUT (and it is a big but lol) all the red tones fade out very quickly, leaving a  deep magenta pink. If you want it redder, I would mix it with an orange or an orange based red.
For a long lasting red, i would recommend the Ion Colour flash range over Directions. I used a mix of both the reds (Chaotic Crimson and Ruby Red) and it was a deep blood red that faded to a bright true red and stayed like that. Even twice weekly washing with sulphate shampoo didn't shift it, it stayed a lovely intense red. I think the ruby was more orange based than the crimson, which was odd, but the 50/50 mix was a lovely colour.
The other range I would explore is Adore, they also have great long lasting reds. I love Directions, but the reds don't have the staying power of other brands.

Ok so say I find an orange based red do I mix all three of them together till I get a nice red and then put it over the pink? Or do I just put the oranger one over, or the rubine and the orange? Sorry, I'm being a bit slow :p And also will this be a red red or a pink red?

Also, do I then put the same mix over my extensions or do I have to re-shuffle whats what to go over them as they're brown and not pink but obviously they won't be washed often as I wear them maybe 2/3 times a month, only more if there's an occasion lol.

I looked at the ion flash ones in sallys and even though the lady started saying 'I can't advise you' she carried on to tell me it definitely wouldn't work as I have 'virgin' hair'... then she wouldn't listen when I said I had far from virgin hair, grr

As you have some patchiness, I would mix a colour you like and go over your current colour. If you put orange straight over it will be less likely to come out even. When you have a shade you are happy with I would then try and get the extensions to match it.
I was really impressed with the Colour Flash reds. I have heard poor reviews on some of the other shades, but I just can't fault their reds. We only picked them up because they were on offer, I wasn't expecting much TBH so very pleasantly surprised.

Thanks! I'll have a looksie around 🙂

Yay! I got there and my extensions aren't too far off, easily wearable I think 🙂 my hair is still a bit pinker than the extensions but I'll be topping up with the orange red so hopefully it will match perfectly

I had one clip which was white as I couldn't find it when I dyed the rest brown which has come out BRIGHT red so I don't know what to do with that but I'm pretty happy 🙂
