So, it would seem after years of blue and purple my hair is permanently stained green.
I'm loath to bleach it any more for fear of ruining it completely, but i'm desperate to go grey.
I have easy access to a superdrug, and a number of directions colours at my disposal. I'd be grateful of any suggestions!
I hate perm dyes, but Superdrug charcoal perm dye perhaps?

Have you tried toning it with a heavily diluted pink?
