Patchy purple hair?

I had a red purplish  hair color that had faded a ton and my roots had really grown out. I breached it Monday and got orange hair with yellow roots so I used a color remover Tuesday. It turned my hold hair golden yellow. Today I colored my hair purple with sparks purple passion & magenta mania. Now I have purple hair with lots of patches of brown silvery purplish color all over. I don't know what went wrong or how to now fix it. I even sectioned it out into small sections and had someone else apply the color I was drenched in the color.

You did wash it before hand?

You didn't use conditioner?

Just have to check 🙂

You probably just need to reapply. On very yellow hair sometimes purple won't show as its toning the hair rather than dying it. It'll have grabbed better on the ends because ends are always more damaged.

I had washed it the day before with conditioner. But I'll try that maybe I just need to reapply. Thanks.

Wash it, do not use conditioner, dry it (hello terrible hair!) and put the dye on. Conditioner will act as a barrier between your hair and the dye so you want to apply it to freshly washed but unconditioned hair.

Yep. Both of those things are a problem! Not only will the conditioner be a barrier, so will the dirt and grime from every day living. Even if you're the cleanest person on the earth and living in a bubble, you'll still produce some oil from your scalp and sweat a bit 🙂

You definitely need to reapply, as Tabitha says, on freshly washed, unconditioned hair. I prefer dying on damp hair, but it's a personal choice that just works better for me. More people seem to say dry hair is better, but you never know until you try 🙂

Oh, and note, this is JUST for this kind of dyes. Bleach and permanent dyes need to be done on several days unwashed hair.

So I have a silly question but if I redye my hair with the same color will it color over the brown patches the same as the rest of my hair and make it all even? Or will you see a difference in those spots when I recolor. Thanks for all the help.

It should come out pretty much the same.
