I started my going lighter last October but then decided to go purple then had enough of the running of purple dye so whent back brown then I've stripped it and decided to go a Amber colour using loreal but it's gone proper dark again arghhh don't get it!!!
Ok so if I use colour remover can I put something like French cognac or similar or do I need to bleach my hair first in order for the colour to take and what ginger colour hair dye would run the least ??
Dye can re-activate old color molecules that weren't washed out. I'd suggest at least one round of color remover and then waiting at least a week before dyeing. Also if your hair has previously been bleached you probably won't need more than 10 volume developer.
Which dye did you use and do you use straighteners?
I had waited over a week to dye it . I used loreal casting cream 28 washes and yes I do use straighteners probably once a week
If you use products with silicone and hot tools like straighteners it is possible to have melted the silicone onto the hair. The problem with that (other than preventing moisture from reaching the interior of the hair) is that a color remover will only work halfway. The dye molecules will have shrunk but are unable to be washed out. Then when you go to bleach or dye it it will reactivate the molecules and your hair will re-darken. I'd suggest doing a couple washes with a good clarifying shampoo then trying the color remover again before attempting to re-dye.
