so today I went to the salon in hopes of blonde hair. I did get somewhat close to what I wanted. obviously I knew that going from a dark brown to a platinum was not possible. surprisingly I got a pretty light golden patchy blonde. my whole purpose was to dye my hair ultra violet and atomic turquoise for the summer. I spent a total of $90 for the bleach job. my scalp absolutely burnt and felt like it was melting so we needed to rinse the bleach out before any damage was actually done. I was assured that the purple would be okay and it would all work out if I dyed it at home. funny story. I look like a sea turtle. I left manic panic on for about 2 hours and ended up with green/grey hair. okay I'll just dye over it. after another 2 hours I had bright blue roots (where it was very very light blonde) and the rest of my hair was a murky brown/green. *ott* so after that I went in the shower and shampooed the crap put of it. not I'm left with a very dark brown/grey/green with bright blue roots *boo*. should I bleach again tomorrow? I'm just afraid of the bleach burning my scalp once again. I actually have a blister at the back from where I was chemically burned. does anyone have ANY suggestions on how to fix my hair or what to do with it? I'm not worried about the damage. my hair is still silky smooth and only an inch was cut off (I was due for a trim anyway) thanks for the help. *anyone* (the upside down picture is where my hair currently is looking like a turtle) the bottom one is the Orange it was after I left the salon.
Your base is just too dark for blues. Blue plus orange makes brown, which is why your hair has gone muddy. For the colours you want you need a light blonde base.
So your options are either to lighten your base further, or to choose a different colour that will work over the base you have.
To avoid damage you should wait at least a month before bleaching again and you shouldn't be putting anything chemical on your scalp while it is still burnt.
Colours that would work on a coppery base are reds, oranges, deep pinks, magentas, warm purples, dark forest green.
Was your hair virgin when you bleached it? If it had been dyed before then a colour remover will help to take out some of the orange.
