Hi all! My hair is currently verrrryyy faded, but still bright Sfx deep purple over hair that was previously bleached and then covered with an auburn permanent box dye (dummy, I know...) I am wanting to get quite a bit of manic panic's voodoo blue into my hair. I left in head and shoulders/dish soap/honey/olive oil in my hair for an hour and it didn't really budge.
How do I lighten this to be enough for blue? Do I need to bleach bathe it?

I would try a colour remover, it will shift the old permanent dye as well, so you should get close to your original bleached base.
I think One & Only Colorfix is the preferred American brand, although you can get Colour B4 in the states now.

If the previous bleached color is a bit orangey/red, will it still work well?

No, you need a blonde base for blue. You may still have to do a light bleaching, but it will be much safer to do the colour remover first.
