Hey, I'm a male college student. I'm not interested in dying my hair or anything that takes work. I have a darker complexion and dark facial/body hair but golden blonde hair. It has always bothered me because brown hair would look a lot nicer, but what are you gonna do.
I'm wondering if there are any shampoos out there that will temporarily darken your hair by just a shade. I know color shampoos exist because I found them on google, but I have no idea if they're safe to use on golden-blonde hair and I have no idea how much they actually darken your hair and for how long it lasts. My fear would be using it and either getting some strange reddish/green color tone or using it and it making my hair significantly darker to the point where people are gonna obviously know I did something to my hair. I was just looking for something a little more subtle that washes out after a few days.
Thanks!
You will need to be quite careful if your natural colour is quite light as most colour shampoos just have the colour of the tint people want to add to their hair (for instance a red tint to go over brown hair to make mahogany) so they can look very obvious if used on a lighter colour. (For instance I sometimes use Superdrug Colour Effects wash in wash out colour to cover my roots and it is really good but judging by the reviews ALL the colours have a gingery or red tone to them). Also using something like that which is meant for brown hair can stain naturally blonde hair.
I know my brother used to use something called Amla hair oil that Asian/ Indian people use on their hair that is said to gradually make it darker and his hair did go darker but that could have just been coincidence as he got older! Might be worth a try though, it's not at all expensive!
