I want to go ginger as in proper what is best to use over this colour my hair is now . I have used colour b4 about a week ago and it taken it a shade lighter but it has darkened a lot .
I don't want Togo down the bleaching route so I know it's going to be a dark ginger .
I was going to use henna caca rouge from lush but I'm scared as heard it's hard to get henna from your hair and I get bored easily so wouldn't be able to change it with hair dye?
I really wouldn't reccomend henna unless you are happy with being ginger for the foreseeable future or cutting your hair short when you want to change colour because henna is nearly impossible to remove.
If you don't want to bleach then you can use one of the adore orange shades to give your hair a more gingery sheen to it.
Thanks for the reply . Yes that's what I'm afraid of. But there's is a few different colours of henna .
The only thing with using adore is what about when I need to redo the colour . It doesn't take to your own hair does it? As in the roots? And I don't want to bleach it and that's
Well, how about mild bleach baths on your roots and then using darker shades of Adore. A mild bleach bath is gentler than a box dye, but you're more likely to get a dark ginger. You'll still need to get it lighter on your lengths though, what you have now is a bit too dark still for a ginger shade.
Forget the henna. It's a bad idea if you're going to change your mind in the next 2 to 3 years. You can't just switch from one henna colour to another either. It'll just go darker and darker.
Really even if I used caca rouge henna from lush which seems like a bright orange it will still go darker ?
Is there any type of dye except for the box dyes that you don't have to use bleach in really not a fan of using it as its more work ! I have quite a few gray hair at the roots 😩 So will need doing often
Avoid box dyes, they are poor quality and often contain some dodgy ingredients.
If you want a permanent or demi permanent dye buy a professional quality one from a salon supply shop or online, with separate peroxide.
Those are all your options, natural dyes like henna, direct dyes like Adore, permanent or demi permanent oxidative dyes.
If it was up to me i would use a direct dye on the lengths, then use a permanent or demi dye in a similar shade to do roots when they grow in. (Depending on how much lift you need)
Thank you, where do you suggest online that I buy a Demi dye? Sorry to sound studied but what does Demi mean? So would I need to use a Demi every time for the roots and adore on the lengths each time ?
I would love something like this but this may be a faraway dream 😂
Won't let me load pic up 😔

Demi dyes are semi permanent dyes that have peroxide in.

Yep. It's bright orange, but when you add colour to another colour, it generally still just gets darker. But also, if you don't just do your roots each time you need to do them, your hair will get darker and darker as the colour builds up.
If you can't upload the picture, either upload it to an image host like photobucket or imgur or edit the photo so it's a smaller file.
You need it to be lighter to get that. It's easy to get, you only need to get it to a ginger which means you're half way there.
Henna and semi permanent dyes are translucent so they will show up lighter and brighter over lighter hair but over dark hair you will see the dark colour through them. A demi permanent (something like Castings, like a 28 wash box dye ) will rough up your roots and help a true semi (such as Adore ) stick but it won't really lighten your hair as the developer in it is only strong enough to deposit the tint, not to lift anything from your natural colour. The only way to lighten your hair is with something permanent as you need it to lift the cuticle and remove pigment from your hair, so a bleach bath or a box dye (which if you're lightening your colour a box dye will be basically the same as using bleach but you won't be able to dilute it the same way as a bleach bath).
I second the opinion that henna probably isn't for you, henna gets gradually darker every time you use it and doesn't really fade or bleach out. Also the Lush henna is really hard to use and messy, you basically have to put newspaper down all over your house as you have to boil it in a double pan (water-bath) on the stove and it drops bits everywhere! (also it's called caca for a reason, it stinks!) if you want a hint of red or orange when the light hits it, and you want to keep it that way for years (about 3 years to grow it out to shoulder length) then go for it, if not go for an option you can easily colour over or use colour remover on if you change your mind.
