applying adore hair dye

i was recommend adore hair dye to cover up my spotty bleach job until its time to rebleach again. I was hoping to do some sort of ombre with the bleach job i have now and the adore hair dye. I know i've seen people just squirt it on and lather like conditioner but i was wondering if anyone has tried applying with a dye brush or if that is too tricky. Any input would be appreciated.

You mean using the dyed to make it darker at the top? If so, it's possible, I've done it with bright colours, but it can be more tricky to look 'natural'. It's fine to do it with a brush though.

You'll need to do it in sections and paint it on the first couple to few inches. Then, with gloved hands, pull the dye down. You want it to blend out as much as possible to nothing left on the mid lengths to ends. I would actually put conditioner on the ends as well. You can then use this to give you some slip as you're blending the colour down. It will also protect the ends from too much run off dying the ends which can sometimes happen with these kinds of dyes.

I'm assuming you mean darker at the top as that's where most of the dark spots seemed to be πŸ™‚

Did you manage to find some adore then?

You are a life saver! I actually did! Just as you said! The first privately owned beauty supply store I called had it. It was $5 just as I had seen online.

Also, do you know if you can mix colors to make a custom shade? I was on maternity leave and wanted to do a deep purple/egg plant color but never had the balls to do it Bc I didn't wanna commit and didn't know of any temporary non damaging ways. Maybe if I'm away from work in the future I'll try it. I was thinking like the jet black and white eggplant color mixed together to be deeper.

You can mix direct dyes to make custom shades, Adore mix particularly well as they're quite thin consistency- I've had lots of fun mixing my own shades with them.

I apply mine with a tinting brush at the roots then brush it through with a shampoo brush, it's quite a thin slippery dye so it is easy to comb through so if you don't want it on the ends I'd do what Janine suggested and put some conditioner on the ends to stop it absorbing.

Yep, it was one of the reasons I mentioned it to you in the first place, mixing is easy πŸ™‚ if you can't see the true colour in the bowl (it'll look darker) the smear a bit on a white piece of paper and you'll get the colour. Be quite generous when applying it I've the blonder parts, if you're stingy with it the blonde will show through. You need to make sure you get a good coat on everything that's uneven.
