Hah Poh, working with a hangover is like a right of passage into growing up, I can almost guarantee it won't be the last time ;D

Mouse, I know how difficult it is to feel human and part of things when you've been out of the loop (so to speak) for a while. Are there friends you can meet up with for a coffee or something? Just something to get you out of the house for a bit? Or is there a craft or something you're interested in doing? If so, you've now got the time to pursue it. As hard as it is, look at it as positively as you can. There are benefits to being off work sometimes. If ever you need an ear, feel free to email me.

Yeah, you'll be saying that for the next 10 years probably!

I had half a glass of wine about 4 hours ago and I'm having a hangover already. I've always been a total lightweight.

Mouse, not sure where in the Midlands you are, but I'm in Brum and I'd be happy to go for coffee or something if you wanted distractions!

Thank you so much for the kind words and the offer, it really picked me up a little bit! May well do so. Having a few more good days at the moment than in previous weeks, and I should be getting my referral this week, so I'm hoping things only get better from here, but sometimes I just get so low again and yesterday made me feel like I'd gone back to square 1.

Ilex, I'm about 15 minutes train ride from Brum but right now the problem is that I'm deemed unfit to live for / care for myself so I've had to move back in with my parents for a few weeks, when I'm back I'd love to take you up on the offer though, as chances are I'll still only be working 2 days a week for a while which is a bit better, but still too much thinking time!

For what it's worth, I've been through something similar and recently my best friend had a breakdown. It takes a long time to get back to full speed but it is so, so much better to fall to bits and actually get help than to keep on trucking while you slowly break yourself. And while you're getting better it's totally normal to have relapses and blips, but that doesn't mean you're back to square one, so try not to worry about it any more than necessary 🙂

For distractions when you're really down, I can thoroughly recommend the Sea Life Centre, so maybe if you fancy an afternoon there when you're back?!

Also - I work part time for a uni, so if there's anything I can help with there (I remember you said you put in a leave of absence application) let me know. 🙂

People who cough with their hands curled into a little ball in front of their mouths, basically making a germ-and-spit-tunnel, instead of cupping their hands over their mouth to make an effective shield.

It's so disgusting.  It's this woman's last day sitting at our row of desks and she's just spreading her sputum and germs around.

Intemp, I hate that too. My SIL is a nurse, and she says the best way to cough so as to minimise the spread of germs is into the crook of your elbow. That way, it's not on your hands, and won't spread as quickly, if at all.

Maybe it's a British thing as I think I do that sometimes too. Sorry!
