Hello loves *hugs*
I'm needing so advice. I have been dying my hair dark brown for years. It always fades to a brown/red color.. π I decided to go light for the summer so I bleached my hair at home. *ott* I eventually wanted to be a platinum blonde silver color. I knon this couldn't happen over night. So my problem is my hair is now a orange/red color with yellow roots. I've kind of started to chicken out going all the way platinum. I don't think it will go with my skintone.
My question is what direction should I go in? Wait an bleach again.. Or go with a red color.. Or just dye it back dark brown.
I'm honestly starting to like the orangeish color with my skintone. Its my roots that are killing me!! Im not sure how to fix it.
... Almost forgot my hair is naturally wavy/curly. The color looks horrible when I don't straighten my hair. I don't want to put that much heat on my hair just to make the color look good. Plus I like my hair natural.
I think that since you've already bleached to this stage it would be a waste to go straight to dark brown again. If you want to continue going light blonde you can wait at least a month and then do a bleach bath every two weeks which are much less damaging to your hair than a full bleach. This thread has information on bleach bathing: http://www.hairdyeforum.com/index.php?topic=995.msg145348#msg145348
If you want to go with the red (which I agree suits you) you could use a semi such as adore which has a lot of natural and unnatural red/auburn/ginger shades to suit what you want and these are not damaging at all.
If you do decide to go back to brown I would also suggest adore as a non damaging alternative to box dyes with bleach π
If I go a ginger color would i have to do anything special for the roots not to come out bad?
It is really difficult to bleach out dark permanent dyes. If you want to go lighter, use a colour remover to get the old dye out, it will make bleaching much easier and even out the colour.
I would use a color remover first before you do any more lightening. It is really difficult to bleach out dark dyes because the bleach has to eat through all the dye, making it not lighten your hair as much as it could if that dye was removed already with a color remover. Just make sure it's a remover and not a color stripper. There's Colour B4, Decolour Remover, One n Only Colorfix, Color Oops, Loreal Color Remover, Jo Bazz, etc.
Yup lol sorry I forgot about colour removers. Luckily there are other people to cover for my forgetfulness π
Try a colour remover or a semi permanent red or orange (Adore) if you like so that you are happier with it and aren't tempted to bleach before you should. If you choose one of these your hair will likely be a little lighter/brighter at the roots but this can sometimes be fixed with another application direct on the roots.
Your roots are yellow because hair closest to the scalp processes faster due to the heat, so when you do process again bear that in mind π Love the red though.
I highly suggest using a color remover! I bleached my hair twice in two days (definitely not a good idea!) and my hair ended up being yellow with orangey ends. I learned about color removers after and when I used one it did a great job of getting the orange bits to lighten to the same yellow as the rest of my hair. I'm sure everyone has different experiences but it definitely worked for me so hopefully it would work just as well for you. π
