Tried a bleach bath

So tried a bleach bath today using the lovely tutorial I found here on the forum.  I haven't used henna in a year now so right now the top 6 inches or so of my head I am sporting a mousy light brown (I used Colour B4 lately) and the rest of it (my hair is past my shoulders) in a slightly faded but still very red henna.

I thought I'd give a bleach bath a try to see if I could get rid of some of the red. I'm not too experienced with bleaching so after applying it to just to the hennaed portion of my hair, after about 20 minutes it was looking so orange that I panicked and washed it off.  I think I should've calmed down and left it on longer...maybe the orange would've gone away?  I've got some temporary ash blonde toner to cover this mess up in the meantime - but how long should I wait before trying another bleach bath?  My hair is in pretty good shape so far.  I fear I may just have to give in and go back to henna as my hair won't let me change πŸ™

You can do them roughly once a week. Don't forget to use coconut oil.

Can you not do an ombre of some kind?

A week - I was afraid of that!  Oh well I can deal with it.  Ombre might be interesting if I had any talent in doing hair!  It is almost looking like ombrΓ© on its own though - except that the top is such an ugly colour.  What colour would look good in its place?  The bottom 2/3 is dark red with bits of flaming orange lol.

Maybe a warm chocolate brown? Or if you tone down the bottom, something more ash brown. Or do you want a funky colour?

I thought I'd give a follow up!  After two colour removals using Colour B4 and two mild bleach baths I was left with extreme orange hair on the bottom 2/3 and mousy light brown on the top.  Feeling too lazy to deal with temporary colours any longer and also too busy to go to Sally's and pick out colour and developer, I bought a couple boxes of Age Defy (they were on offer) in dark blonde #7.  It comes with a packet of moisturiser to protect the ends before you colour. I suppose coconut oil would be as good if not better but I thought it was interesting to see this in a box kit.
Anyway, I put the dye over the whole mess and it turned out OK.  The orange is not so orange and the top, because the colour was a little lighter than my natural colour, lightened it a bit and left it with a bit of a reddish tone.  So it has helped even things out.  I can see the difference but it's gradual enough it looks pretty good.  It's not the colour I want but I'm well on my way now πŸ˜‰  Thanks for all your help everyone.
