So what’s happened here then….?

Starting point - Short fine haired bob – medium brown virgin hair.

Dyed my hair regularly in the past but had some time off while on a budget (As you know keeping colours looking fab costs quite a bit in upkeep!)

Coconut oil then bleached bath to pale blonde (as per my stand test). No problem at all great condition after. Had blonde for a few weeks as it came out a lovely colour, then directions lavender, pink , red and purple over the next several weeks.

All good, regrowth was getting a bit nasty so let the colour fade out over a month did another bleach bath that lifted great – back to the original blonde. Then the following day went pink.

However I am now in my second week of being pink it’s suddenly got really orange tones pop up. There was no brassiness after the bath but this week yellow ‘highlights’ are really showing through. I redid the directions flamingo pink over the weekend and it’s not really covered this yellow tone at all. It seems to shine through regardless. I did a lavender rinse in my shampoo and conditioner in the hope it would tone it out a bit (the rest of my hair went a lovely colour) however it didn’t seem touch the yellow tone..

Any idea what’s going on?

(I am going to go a orange/red at the weekend to cover it – but I wanted to know what I have done wrong to make sure I don’t to it again)

Used – as I have before with no issues :

‘One shot’ sally’s salon services peroxide in 30 vol
Jarome Russel B Blonde – non brassy blonde sachets

I have a feeling it'll be something left over from the red you put in there. Either that, or it'll be the actual colour the bleach gave you before you toned.

I might be too late here, but if you're only going red to cover it, it's worth trying this first: Get some Directions Lavender and mix in a little Flamingo Pink and a little conditioner, and put that over everything. I got the most gorgeous dusky pink out of that combo, and it cut out all the remaining yellow, and when it faded, it faded to white before that finally washed out and the brassy tones began to come back.
