Scott Cornwall Decolour / Stripper question (basic)

Okay v1 of this post was rambly as per usual haha, to keep it short and sweet in the hope someone can help me (sat here with the products waiting to go πŸ™‚ )

- I am removing dark/red/black dye from naturally dark hair with a view to ultimately going bright red like the lady below  *loveeyes*

- I have two boxes of Scott Cornwall Decolour, wanted 3 (3 for 2 in Boots, UK peeps!) but sold out so grabbed a SC Stripper instead. This is basically a bleach right? Developer is 20vol.

- So, in theory I could use stripper first (I know its sposed to be crap but my hair is v dark and long and thick and kinda needs all the help it can get) then decolour safely?

- However, I think I am right in saying I could NOT use decolour first then stripper as it would oxidise. This was my first plan, thought decolour then any stubborn areas hit em with the stripper... dang!

Is this correct? Stripper = bleach (or some kind of product with 6& hydrogen peroxide..) and therefore would oxidise after decolour?

Grrrrrrrr wish I'd grabbed a ColourB4 as my 3rd item, but oh well. If someone could just take a glance and let me know what they think the best plan is I would be so grateful, done research but can't quite find full answer and I'd be gutted to end up oxidising it all again!

Thank you kindly  *thx*

I would skip the stripper altogether at this stage. Reds are really good for evening up a patchy base, and as a general rule, if you can get away with doing it without peroxide, then don't use peroxide. Try the two rounds of decolour and see what you're left with. Then use the red over the top. If you still feel like your base needs more lightening, wait a few weeks, then bleach bath and redo the red.

Fantastic, thank you, I will do just that  πŸ™‚

Regretted buying the stripper as soon as I got home.. ah well, will keep it in reserve for a later time. Hope 2 boxes of decolour is enough, my hair is very thick and pretty long but if not will be sending my boyf out to pick up more πŸ˜‰

You're a superstar, thank you!  *1*

Ended up using both boxes and too broke to have a round two, so will see how this has worked then decide if a bleach bath nxt week is necessary.. No majiwhatever though, off that idea. Semis all the way πŸ˜€

Quick q (sorry..) - is it important to stick to the instructions to the letter and not exceed recommended times or risk dire consequences, like bleach, or is it ok to wait a bit longer if it is not quite there yet? I took a sneaky peak, the roots and middle looked pretty ginger, but the ends and area affected by the black dye was still really really dark. Hard to tell when damp tho i guess.. Not able to use hairdryer til now so will give it a blast and an extra 5 mins as my hair is thick and tough haha then wash it out and assess.

Thank you lovely peeps! I feel like such a twit asking all these basic Qs, i do try to look stuff up but sometimes i just need a bit of advice. I just don't want to make a mistake and you are the experts!! Will do more general reading later once this dye sesh is done πŸ™‚

Fingers crossed i will be a redhead by the end of the day! Yay <3
