Hi all, I have been bleach blonde my whole life, in July i decided to go red xxl red passion, roots came through and so I put xxl midnight red on.was so dark, in October I used colour b4 extra it 2 as patchy and awful, so straight away used xxl red passion *ott* been washing with head and shoulders and baby shampoo. Yesterday I used colour b4 extra again twice, I have ginger hair I really dislike. Salon did strand test yesterday with bleach and it didn't lift at all!!!! Why not??? Please help me... I want to go back blonde, hair is in good condition as I regularly do treatments .... any help appreciated Thanks xx
XXL dyes are notorious for being hard to remove. They contain silicone which can melt in the hair when using hair straighteners and that stops the color molecules from coming out.
If you have used two color removers and the bleach did nothing then i am afraid you wont be able to get rid of it. You may have to grow it out.
I would recommend trying another color remover but the other fading methods wont work on permanent hair dye.
Thank you for reply, I am devastated really don't want to be left this colour, do you think the bleach didnt work as it's too soon after colour b4 extra xx
And red dyes stain generally unfortunately. Is it the patchy and faded look you hate most? If so, I would suggest trying some Adore dyes from Beeunique. http://www.beeunique.co.uk/index.php?main_page=index&cPath=151 There's some lovely bright, but slightly more natural reds in that line. They actually last better and are more easy to top up than permanent dyes and won't damage.
Edited to add, Just saw your reply. No, it's just that red stains I'm afraid. If you saw it go light and then the bleach made it dark again, that's a different issue. But Colour B4 won't stop bleaching work.
I didnt see it go light. Salon just said that it didn't change at all 🙁 have always bleached my hair xxx
Try again with the colour removers. You may need to use them 3 times, and use other fading methods in between, but that will get you as light as you are going to get. Staining is totally permanent, bleach will not get it out, but many people ruin their hair by trying. If you can get to a light ginger you will be able to cover it with a wider range of colours; natural reds, bright reds, dark pinks, purple, brown, black, dark green etc.
Thank you, I have put a medium ash blonde semi on and it's abrown/red tint ginger... bare able for now ... just want to go blonde 🙁
Blonde is out of the running i am afraid until you grow this colour out, but you can tone down the ginger without further processing your hair. If you use a direct dye in the opposite colour to your hair it will neutralise it. You will need blue/purple, but impossible to be more specific without seeing your hair
I am back to blonde thank you to everyone that advised xx
Can I ask what you used?
