I went to a new salon today to get a root touch-up for my partial foil. SOMEHOW, the girl talked me in to letting her "paint" on the lightener instead of doing foils, and this is what my roots look like. I had to leave to go to work so I didn't have time for her to fix it right then and there. I'm going back in the AM for the fix, but I'm not sure that I fully trust what her "fix" might be... They are yellow! Any suggestions? I am not a hairdresser, but have been getting my hair done for years and have watched what other stylists have done with it. The only thing I can think of would be to have her re-do it with tightly-placed foils to lift the color more and break up this yellow bar going down my scalp. I made it clear that I like a very light, "white" blonde with NO yellow.
I'm so mad at myself for letting her talk me in to something other than foils. I don't know what I was thinking -- I have ALWAYS done foils. Also upset that I didn't say anything about the processing time -- I didn't process anywhere near the amount of time I usually do, but I figured that she knew what she was doing and I should let her do what she thinks best. I could tell that she knew I wasn't happy, but I didn't want to make her feel bad or completely freak out. But I am kinda freaking out! Any suggestions would be appreciated! :-[
It's got nothing to do with the foils. It's because it wasn't processed for long enough, or it was a little too cold to process properly. That leaves a little more yellow in the hair.
It really doesn't look as bad as you think it does. The vast majority of people won't notice. Though, I know what it's like when you're not totally happy with your hair, but honestly, there's no reason to freak out π
Use a purple shampoo and leave it on for about 10-15 minutes on the yellow parts, this will help tone them and reduce the yellow color.
As Janine said, not many people will notice it.
Its very noticeable, dark gold. Its almost as if she used a weak bleach or a general level8 color. Theres a good 3 level difference. Foils keep the much needed heat in, essential for maximum lifting power.
Problem here is the botched color looks pretty solid throughout so getting some bleach foils will just look patchy with the remaining gold root color still showing. Good news is that your light blond un botched color also looks fairly solid throughout your hair & best fix would be to get all botched roots on-scalp bleached + 20 vol. to match remaining light blond shade this time around.
Next time get a few lo-lites in your natural color in a 1:3 foil ratio to blond re-touch root foils for the full head(assuming you alternate from partial to full for visits) this will add depth throughout the solid light blond & re-set a normal foil pattern.
Ask if the manager/owner can fix it or @ least recommend what should be done to best fix it.
