After almost a year of slow, slow progress, I am SO close to my goal of silver, I can almost taste it!!
BUT - and isn't there always a 'but' - here's my current 'problem':
I only bleach my roots every 6-8 weeks, so they are usually pretty long when I go to do them. For a few reasons, but it works for me. Anyway, due an understandable fear of frying my hair, I tend to panic and wash the bleach out a little too early, leaving me with roots which are less than ideal.
So my recent bleach job. I was brave and left the bleach in for 10 mins longer than I usually do (I use 20vol) and it was much paler than my previous attempts, however, still quite yellow. My lengths are almost pure ice white, so it looks pretty silly.
I decided to slather on a load of Bonacure to my roots and left for 30 mins. Not even close. So I bust out the Pravana Violet.
Made a toner with conditioner and applied all over, then added some neat to my roots afterwards, smooshing it all in to try and get some sort of gradient. Literally left it on for 10 mins. Man, that Pravana is potent!
End result looks pretty awesome, considering it's not what I intended! After two washes, it's faded quite a bit but still very much purple in places but very multi-tonal as some of it has washed out completely from the lengths. So got a lot of white/silver/purple running through. Very unicorn-y. Still looking great, but not what I wanted.
It's washed out of a lot of my roots and they are now white, thankfully, no yellow in sight! (I won't mention my roots growing back in lol).
So my question - will Pravana Silver take over the remaining purple bits? There are some areas which I can tell will take a while to shift. Should I wait and let it fade more? Would rather avoid a colour-remover or a BB.
I want it fairly dark so when I do it, I will put it on neat and leave it on for a couple of hours.
Thanks in advance π
Hard to say without a pic, but Pravana silver is nowhere near as deeply pigmented as their violet so might be best to fade it first. It isn't a very dark silver either IME.

Thanks, it's faded quite a lot since I posted and is very silver in places already. It's mostly lilac at the moment, which I really really like so I'm in no rush to change it!
I saw a few posters that did get quite a dark gun-metal silver from using Pravana, so I just assumed I would most likely get the same result. I will give it a go when I'm ready and we'll see what happens!
