Need help on first bleaching job: from dark brown to blonde

Hiya, I have a question! I'll be bleaching my hair tomorrow for the first time (DIY)  ;D

So I have a dark brown (or dark coppery brown?) color, I think. I used box dyes before, no bleaching.

I want a purple hair, could be a dark shade and I'll just let it fade into a light purple. On my first bleaching job tomorrow, my hair will turn orange, right? So purple dye won't work yet. Just wanna ask what kind of blonde should my hair be before I put on Punky Colours Purple?

I also want to achieve platinum blonde, not sure whether to get this color first or purple. So, is it better to do one bleach bath a week using 40vol developer, or just a head on bleaching job a month using 30vol? Which one would be faster and better for the hair? Just wanna use the 12% because the sales lady mistakenly gave me it instead of 9%  :-

Sorry if this is a dumb question. I only dyed my hair 3 times before and I just picked random boxes of dyes without even knowing anything 'bout these stuff  :-[

Thanks in advance!  *lovestars*

Ok firstly, if you have brown dyes on your hair already it's worth trying 3 colour removers first, this could take you up to a gingery shade without the bleach. They are drying though so have a lovely conditioner handy! After this wait a week or so and then you can bleach bath and see how your hair is going with that. You'll probably want to go for the platinum blonde before the purple because then you'll have the right base to start with the lighter purple that you said you wanted. But to be honest I'm a bit confused which colour you want...platinum or purple?

Also, is there anyway of changing the strength that you have? You might get away with 20 vol which will do less damage

@Deloria87 as far as I know, we don't have colour removers here in our country.. or at least that's what I've read. But I found one sachet of "decolouring powder". I dunno if that's the same thing because the sales girl told me that's bleaching powder.

Anyways, I think I'm gonna go for platinum first. So if I would go to bleaching straight ahead, would vol20 work on my dark copper hair?

It will be difficult if not impossible to bleach to platinum over a dark permanent dye. If you can order a colour remover online (Not a stripper they are different) it will make bleaching much easier for you.

It's pretty much impossible to bleach to platinum if there's dark dyes on the hair. Your hair will get stuck at a gradient of yellow, orange and red shades and turn to mush before it reaches platinum. I really would order a color remover if you can like Colour B4, Decolour Remover, Provoke, Jo Bazz, One n Only Colorfix, Color Oops, etc. Do not order a stripper like Color Zap or Effasol, they are pretty much just expensive bleach powder. How long/thick is your hair? Depending on that ans which one you order, you may be able to get 3 applications out of a single box, just mix up the amount you need only for each application. Just be sure to rinse for a long time after each remover so your dark color doesn't come back when you do bleach.I always rinse for a half hour, dry it completely, then rinse for another half hour.

Know that dark dyes tend to permanently stain the hair though, so if your hair is longer especially you may not be able to budge the midlengths to ends past a ginger shade, even after using color removers and bleaching.

If it were me I would order a couple boxes of color removers, and do weekly 30 vol bleach baths. Do reconstructing treatments in between bleaching, and slather your hair in coconut oil a couple hours before bleaching to help minimize the damage.

Thanks for the guide!! I actually bleached my hair already using 30vol and the color turned out to be copper. (Very ugly I tell ya) anywwy, my hair isn't thick and it's just shoulder length. So yes I'll just order colour removers. Thank you so much!
