Hello everyone!
In a week, I will graduate so I'll be finally able to colour my hair in unnatural colours. My hair is now red, my roots are brighter than my lengths. I want to colour my hair turquoise and purple and have to get my hair as light as possible for this. I think bleaching would be the best but since it's my first time bleaching I'd like to get some advise so I don't overly process my hair.. I was eyeing the Schwarzkopf Blondme bleach and I was wondering if it is any good and if it will work to get my red light enough to put turquoise and purple over it. I feel like bleaching is a risky business and I really need help!
If your red is hair dye, start by getting it out before attempting to bleach. If it is a direct dye you need to fade it, if it is oxidative dye (one that needed mixing with developer) you need to use colour removers.
BlondMe is a great bleach, it gives a lot of lift but you will get a better result if you remove the red dye first.
Yeah, it's majicontrast. If I'm lucky my hair underneath the red might be lifted a little. I'll use colour remover, thanks for the tip! Will be a pain in the ass to get the smell out though! I also already bought some coconut oil to put on my hair before and after I bleach it for some damage control. The only thing I'm worried about is that my hair will be fried to pieces. I've read a lot of horror stories already, haha!
If you have been using 30 vol with the Majicontrast I think you will be pleasantly surprised at how light it is under the red.
You might not have to bleach at all, especially if you have gone over the same hair more than once with it.
Majicontrast is savage stuff lol, bleaching with a low vol peroxide will be far more gentle.
Oh I didn't know 😮 I used majicontrast to avoid bleaching and damaging my hair. Good to know my hair will be able to handle the bleaching then!
Bleaching is more harsh in general, but better with lower peroxide, I'd say even then it is a little harsher than using majicontrast. However, once you've bleached you shouldn't really have to do so again which is mostly the point. Damage is accumulative, once it's built up it can't be repaired permanently. So don't assume it's going to handle bleaching now.
A lot of people use majicontrast thinking it's better, but having to repeat because it fades is not good at all sadly 🙂
Basically your hair is already bleached from the majicontrast (and if you have been using 30 or 40 vol with it I find that more damaging for the amount of lift, you could get the same lift but less damage with a good bleach and 10 or 20 vol)
As Janine says, bleach damage is cumulative, so you will need to bleach gently as your hair is already processed.
Oh, that's what I was trying to say and realise now I didn't actually say it lol
Yeah I'll just remove the dye and bleach once and then try to put an emerald colour on top and see how it turns out.
