It's probably really just a conditioner, so I wouldn't worry too much. I've ignored that last step before (well, forgotten π ) used a normal conditioner and it's been fine. You do want to finish with a really good conditioner though. I don't really trust conditioners from these kinds of things. They too often contain silicone etc.
If you do use the balm directly after the remover, shampoo again with a clarifying shampoo before using your toner.
Thanks! I will check the ingredients too as I try to avoid silicone. I have my own protein conditioner that doesn't have loads of junk in it, so may use that instead!
Is it the Decolour remover, or the Decolour stripper? The stripper will damage your hair further, it bleaches as well as removing old colour
Hi,
It's the Scott Cornwall decolour colour remover, definitely not his stripper.
I think it's removed the copper so well as I had highlights 2 years ago, which I forgot about until doing the strand test
That's fine then, yes if you were lighter before it will reveal that. It is a great result.
Yeah, I'm actually quite shocked the result is that good!
Yeah me too!
I have been trying to get a good picture! it's not a great pic (done on laptop) but as you can see my hair is more blended now. I will get my highlights redone in a couple of months which should take the remaining warmth away!
My hair's remained in good condition and I think it helped that it was two weeks between highlights and colour remover.
The colour remover removed some of the red to make my hair go from a copper to a more golden/yellow blonde. It was very 'brassy' and then I used nice n easy ash blonde non-permanent 8 wash. This has helped a bit. Plus a a very blue shampoo L'Oreal Professionnel Silver Shampoo (has sulfates so going to restrict the use). But there is still some warmth but I can live with it! I don't know if there are any gentle but effective toners, I tried 'colouron' blue toner but it wasn't great.
*thx* so much for advice. I am just going to leave my hair now until hairdressers again.
You can make your own toner. Just dilute some direct dye in a white silicone free conditioner. You need a blue based purple or purple based blue, Neon Blue from Directions dilutes nicely to tone brassiness, you can add as much or as little as you need to get just the depth of colour you need. So really economical and totally safe, you can condition as you tone.
Thanks! I was wondering about directions
