I'm in the process of going from dyed black hair to bleached bright colours, so I thought I'd document it for people who want to see the different stages you can expect.
My hair is naturally a mid, ashy brown. The very end two inches or so have been bleached, then dyed brown with Superdrug own brand, then stripped with Scott Cornwall Decolour Remover, then diluted Virgin Rose all over, then dyed 'Black Cherry' but I can't remember the brand, then dyed black with Nice'n'Easy. The mid-lengths have had the same treatment, but without the bleached ends. I had about 2cm of natural roots when I started.
First picture was on Saturday evening, dyed black.
Second picture Sunday evening, after one treatment of Jo Bazz Extra Strength. You can see that most of the black has been removed, leaving my hair a warm mid brown. The ends that were bleached are still holding onto the black though.
It's worked well so far what do you think you'll be doing next? I'm about to use the colour b4 myself to get out the black but I've been dong full head applications for years now so not holding much hope out lol
I find that colour b4 extra strength gets the most colour out of my hair. When I first went all red, I had about 5 years of permanent black build up and 3 boxes of this got it completely out.
OK, opening this back up!
I tried bleaching the above with disastrous results. Some of the colour re-oxidised and went black, sone bits when pink, some bits went bright orange. Turns out I'd used old bleach by mistake and it was a mess, so I covered it over with a permanent bright red (Live XL) and gave it a rest for a couple of months.
Yesterday I did another Decolour Remover on it and got a really good result. It's actually quite a bit lighter than this pic implies: I'm golden brown at the top and kind of pinky rose gold at the ends. I'm going to do another remover tonight and then my hairdresser is bleaching at the weekend, after I've loved my a hair a bit and washed it a few times to get rid of all the remaining colour. (My hairdresser is very good with colour and I trust him a lot.)
I actually love the current colour! But I'm also looking forward to seeing you with bright hair again. You always do such good colours.
I really like it too! It's a darker version of that pinky-blonde shade everyone wanted a few months ago π
That is lovely!
It's getting so long too!
I KNOW! I can tie it back! It's amazing!!
It really is!
Also, have you tried the curly girl method? (I hate calling it that as it's my method I came up with on my own donkey's years ago and I should have written a book about it back then! lol) I really think you have a mass of curls there dying to get out π It looks a lot like mine does when I don't make much of an effort to make it curl (yours is far less frizzy though lol).
I keep meaning to, I just keep forgetting π
