dark red brown to blonde

Hello all,
This past weekend I decided I was done with my dark red brown hair and I wanted to be blonde again. I just recently had my pixie cut trimmed,  So I forced my wife to go to Sally's with me and bought all the necessary products that I thought I would need. I started off by using color fix (which is a remover) and used it on Friday night. I was quite happy with the result seeing as I had numerous applications of permanent red/brown dye on my hair. So I turned out to be a few shades lighter than a cheeto. I was going to use it again but was worried about it going back to dark since I read that can happen, so I completely covered my scalp and hair with coconut oil that night and woke up on Saturday morning quite surprised I didn't have coconut oil all over my face! So then I decided to bleach my hair using loreal quick blue bleach and 30 vol developer. I did about 40 minutes of my ends and about 15 minutes on my roots and the result was a pretty vibrant yellow. I thought id deep condition, since I just bleached and then I wanted to tone it because of course I did this on a day that I had an event that night and couldn't leave the house with bright yellow hair. so after I deep conditioned I used wella t14 toner for about 10 minutes and it did a pretty good job at toning down the brightness, but it is still pretty yellow. With all that being said I am wondering since I did all that in a matter of 2 days how long should I wait to tone it again? should I wait 1 week, 1 month? I'm not sure and any suggestions on a better toner would be greatly appreciated, the t14 is okay but I'm up to try new things.

Thank you!!! *thx*

You really need to leave it at least a month if you really want to use the wella again. You need to make sure damage isn't going to catch up with you.

However, you could try a colour remover again. It will take out the toner, but the yellow will be staining from the dyes used in the past and might be impossible to remove.

You actually did it the wrong way. Using the bleach is the thing that would have made it revert to going dark again, if it was going to. The peroxide re oxidises the shrunken molecules of dye (removers work by shrinking the molecules and then the rinsing with water flushes it out) that are stuck in the hair and it turns dark. Using another colour remover might have taken more dye out, but it wouldn't have re oxidised any dye molecules left in the hair. They never will remove staining, but a bleach has a better chance of working when as much dye is removed as possible.

I also suggest using a purple shampoo or making up your own toner using a purple or purple based blue direct dye(manic panic, punky, special effects etc) mixed with conditioner. Then you can use them as often as you like, they're totally non-damaging.

I think I'm just going to leave it be for now. Its actually not that bad I think I more so freaked out since I went from dark to light so fast, lol

But I do agree that making my own toner is the best bet, since I wasn't very happy with the Wella and they don't seem to get the greatest reviews, or maybe it was just the one that I got. But either way I'll just stick to purple shampoo and maybe try my own homemade toner next weekend.

Thanks!
