Bleached hair for the first time, it turned orange/red

I bleached my hair for the first time last Sunday (or my boyfriend did rather lol). We used kaleidocolors purple since thats what the sally's person recommended. I originally wanted to try manic panic flash lightening but the lady working at sally's said that doesn't sell much and the other are better. So we did the kaleidocolors purple with 2 packs and nearly didn't have enough so had to make it stretch some when we got to the front part of my hair. Left it on for an hr and the back turned really light but the front and sides are orange/red. I've been deep conditioning my hair everyday this week with no shampoo since I read not to shampoo hair for a week after bleaching. Today my hair feels soft from using aussie 3 minute miracle last night so it feels to be in great shape. Is it too soon to try to bleach again? And should I try a different type of bleach, maybe a blue powdered one since purple is suppose to be used to counteract yellow not orange? I looked up box dye lighteners also that I could buy at like Walmart like l'oreal super blonde lightener but I'm not sure if it would do anything.

What I'm trying to achieve is a light color so I can dye it light brown without it going dark (and to get rid of the red that shows up in my hair, I guess my hair pulls a lot of red). I'm also curious as to how I would look as a blonde, but I'm not worried about it if it's going to be hard and damaging to achieve.
My hair is chin length bob, very thick and naturally dry if that helps any.
The pictures I took today (front, back, top view) and the other is the before color

It is way too soon to bleach again ... you'll need to wait at least a month between bleaches.  Most deep conditioners are chock full of silicones, which hide the actual condition of your hair, and it can take several weeks for damage to actually show up.

Also, I'm a bit confused--you're going blonde to go brown?  Ash browns go khaki over pale blonde hair; they need a bit of warmth to counteract the blue/green base within.

It's normal for hair to turn red and orangey after bleaching, take a look at the bleaching chart here: http://www.hairdyeforum.com/index.php?topic=10398.0

Your hair feels good now because it's coated in silicones, which 3 Minute Miracle is full of. You need to wash with clarifying shampoo and then not condition and feel your hair after it dries to know the true condition. Also, damage can take weeks to show up so you'll want to give it at least a month before hitting the bleach again. Wash with clarifying shampoo in a month and see how it feels.

The Sally's lady was right to recommend not using the MP bleach kits, they are awful and you'd probably need 3-4 of them to do a whole head. They really don't lighten well at all though.

There wasn't enough bleach and it likely wasn't on long enough. Common problem with bleaching. I am starting to think very few people successfully bleach in one shot.

Your hair is damaged trust me. All these deep conditioners are like a mask. They make your hair feel soft again but it's really damaged, don't let yourself be fooled! I had my hair bleached twice in six days/the first round made my hair orangey and patchy and god awful. It was still strong though. The second bleaching really damaged it and that was a gentler application. And even still my color isn't perfectly even since I had highlights before and she couldn't get all the dark strands without overlapping and frying my hair. To make it bleach blonde all over she would need a third bleaching and she refused because my hair will be fried. I have very long hair and it breaks quite easily at the bottom.

Also bleaching too much at once can mess up your scalp. I got small burns that healed but bleaching too much can screw it up.

Your best bet is to wait a bit and do some reconstructing or deep conditioning treatments.

So you just want to go light brown? There is no need to lighten it so much if you're only going light brown. If you're worried about orange tones coming through as the dye fades, lightening it to a gold is fine. And actually the lighter you bleach your hair, the darker the dye will end up coming out so you will most likely need to use a dark or medium blonde instead.

Was your hair dyed that dark color? Or was that your virgin hair?
