Is the loreal blue stuff good?
My salon always uses purple bleach and I don't need toner. If I use a white bleach will I need toner?
Blue bleach is specifically marketed as a neutraliser for yellow tones. I have dark Hispanic hair with a lot of warmth, I still get yellow hair from bleaching with blue bleach but it is far less yellow than using white.
My personal favourite bleach is L'oreal Infinie Platine, when I was platinum it used to take my hair to inside of a banana yellow in one go, meaning I only had to tone. I've used lots of different bleach powders and this was by far the most effective in both lightening dark hair and neutralising warm tones.
Are you in the US? If so, I honestly think the best bleach Sally's has is their own Ion bleach(in the purple tub). It lifts quickly, evenly, and gently.
I don't like the loreal quick blue at all, it leaves a lot of yellow/gold and orange tones, depending on what level you're starting with, despite it's toning promises. Even just dark ash blonde I was never able to get past a yellow with it. My favorite bleach from sallys is the Age Beautiful Crème Lightener. It felt a lot more gentle than the other bleaches I've tried from there, left the hair a nice pale yellow, and lifted evenly and faster than a lot of other brands. The best bleaches IMO are Wella Blondor Crème and matrix Light Master, totally worth the extra money. Like with Matrix I can lift resistant Asain black/dark brown hair in one go with 30 vol in 45 minutes to a yellow, sometimes even a pale yellow, sometimes it doesn't even take that long and the hair feels a lot less damaged afterwards than with other brands. Or on my hair, a resistant level 6/7 dark ash blonde I can lift with a 30 vol bleach bath (so about 15 vol) to pale yellow in 25 minutes.
