Ok so I need to tone down, will I have to bleach or at least bleach bath my hair first or can I just shampoo? I'm reluctant to bleach again so soon.

What exactly do you have now?

What are you planning to use to tone?

What result do you want?

Added a pic of now, as in literally just now. Lights not great so it doesn't look as yellow as it is.
I just want it to look less like yellow doll hair! I'm not expecting it to turn white or anything, I have the bleach london toner which I have used before with good results but I used it straight after bleaching.
So yeah what I want to know is will the results be similar if I just shampoo before toning today?

That helps a lot, thanks!

It is an easy answer though. Yep, just shampoo 🙂

Most of us here prefer purple shampoos to toners. I've used Bonacure and Touch of Silver, like them both. Or we mix our own using dye and conditioner.

I have some purple shampoo. I've used it a few times on this dye job but it hasn't really don't much. Maybe I could leave it on longer...

This is the colour I was using the same products on before this new style.

Yeah, you can experiment with leaving it on for 5 mins to 30 mins. I found 5 mins was fine, longer than that and it went grey toned, but I wasn't aiming for white either as I wasn't pale enough.

I tried a normal toner and mixing dye with conditioner and I could never get it to work. It's really quite individual and you have to experiment!

One thing I would say, if you mix your own toner with semi dye and conditioner err on the side of caution with how much purple dye you use. I was trying to tone my hair to a neutral blonde the other day and managed to turn half my hair lilac.

Ta da! This was purple shampoo left on.
It's quite hard to see the difference because the 1st photo was taken when the sun wasn't out. Still a bit gold but a lot less like doll hair,

You can definitely see less brass in the second picture; it looks great!
