Since we already have a (sort of) private 'Have a Good Old Moan' thread in the form of Janine's (hijacked - sorry!) Vent thread, I thought it may be a good idea to start a private 'Good Vibrations' thread in this section for us to share our good news that we may not be comfortable sharing with the entire forum or in a publicly searchable format.

So, here's my GV - As you may know, my mother promised to give me some money to invest in my business in April, so that I could buy enough stock to take my business to the next level and hopefully get to the point where I can either leave my f/t job entirely or decrease my hours to part time instead for a while.  But my mother lives in Cyprus.  And then the Cyprus banking crisis happened, and the banks are now restricting how much money can be transferred out of the country.  So I've been pretty frustrated lately, feeling like everything is against my shop succeeding and like I have to struggle for every little win.  Then I had a brainwave today.  My father mentioned during a telephone call at the weekend that the banks aren't stopping people transferring money out of the country if it's to pay an invoice for a purchase that's over the limit of what you're allowed to transfer out, they just don't want people to move their money out of the country for the sake of it.  So I thought, I have a business paypal account, which allows me to invoice people, so why not send my mother an invoice and make it look like she's bought a load of handmade dresses from me, which now need to be paid for?  So that's what I did.  I sent her an invoice tonight, and hopefully, the banks will let her transfer the money out to 'pay' the invoice.  There's no guarantee that it'll work, but it's worth a shot, and it's given me some hope!

Brilliant news Mindi and a great idea if I may say so 🙂

My GV is I am in touch with an ex bf from over 20 years ago and we've been seeing a fair bit of each other in a friends way recently but we're starting to go over that line with chat and stuff and I'm fairly sure something's gonna happen there 😀

That's brilliant, Mindi!  In both meanings of the word.

Pippa, haha, hope you had fun XP

Nickki, that's great news 😀  Fingers crossed!

My happy is that I have finally gone down a size, even though I went up four pounds.  I'm pretty sure that I gained muscle and lost fat, because I've been in between sizes for the last several months while dropping my latest stone, then I started cycling as well as doing yoga, put on four pounds and boom!  I can fit into the next size down.  I've also lost over 13" all over in the last seven months, 2.5 of which are off of my hips.  Proof that the number on the scale isn't necessarily everything, and I'm feeling pretty damned awesome about this.  I don't like posting stuff like this on the forum because a) anyone can see it and b) I know we have some members who have eating issues, so I don't want to feel like I'm inadvertantly triggering anyone.

Mindi, that's fantastic!

Pippa, well... yay! lol

Nickki, sounds fab!

Intemp, well done!

I also have to say to Mindi and Glitter, use the Facebook connection share thing on supadupa, it looks great on the page and it seems to get people looking more than other posts! I tried it this morning and I was really pleasantly surprised with how well it comes out 😀

Great idea for this thread... thanks for starting it!  🙂

Mindi, that's truly brilliant and I hope it works out!!!  😀

Pippa... woo hoo, LOL... enjoy!

Nickki, pleased to hear that you are enjoying the reconnection with an old flame.  Hope it all works out for you!

Intemp, congrats to you!  My advice is to toss the scale entirely.  Go by how you feel and how your clothes fit.  It's a much more accurate indicator of your progress.  🙂

My GV is I have finally found a naturopathic practitioner who seems to have similar views to my own in regards to health (I'm a holistic-minded person).  I've had some underlying health issues for the last few years, and I'm going to see her Friday to see if we can begin to sort out why I have an imbalance.  I'm hopeful that I will be able to get back on track and feel well again.

Thanks guys 😀

Glad you're getting some more site traffic, Mindi, Glitter and Janine 🙂

And Momma, that sounds promising, hopefully they can help!  There's a woman who owns a shop in my town and has MS, and Reiki treatments brought her to a point where she no longer relies on her wheelchair, so I definitely think there's potential in holistic treatments.

Yay for everyone 🙂
I'm also happy because I've slimmed down a bit. My waist and tummy have gone tiny since i went vegetarian but I've managed to keep my bum and boobs so yay 😀
Also moneys a bit better since I put my foot down with Chris (I've stopped him wasting money on pointless things) so I'm for once going out this weekend! I'm going to one of the local gay clubs with my friend and we're going to party with her drag queen friends 🙂

Ooo Glitter yay on slimming down, and do have fun!!!  😀

Intemp, it's amazing what some of those holistic therapies can do, isn't it?  I'm truly hopeful!  I know it's not a quick fix by any means, and it'll take work and commitment... but it would be so worth it to be comfortable in my own body again!  🙂

I've had my appointment with the ND today, and I'm so pleased with the outcome.  The lady is truly lovely and had some suggestions for me to try.  Over the course of the next couple of months, I have some work to do... but it feels good to have a clear direction.

Sadly, a lot of my current health issues have strong connections to emotional triggers.  I honestly knew this deep down, but acknowledging it meant I had to face those demons.  She's suggested I try some Mindfullness Based Stress Reduction Meditation... so I'll be seeking out options for that.  Yoga is also good so long as it's focusing more on the meditation and less on the physical strength/toning... so I might try to find someone to give private instruction until I understand it and can practice at home as my anxiety doesn't permit me to participate in group sessions (I've tried).

So... I'm feeling well and hopeful.  I go back to see her in two months to check progress and see if there are other things I need to be doing as I come along.  😀

On a hair note... I've done a fresh application of dye to my fade and it's come out absolutely lovely.  I added some updated pics in my thread in the purple section.  *yay*

xx

Slight update on progress - the paypal invoice didn't work (apparently the banks won't pay paypal invoices because you can just pay it via paypal instead, which I didn't want as paypal would take a VERY sizeable chunk of my money for receiving a large payment!), however, this is still a GV because my mother is posting a cheque to me today from one of their british accounts.  It's not the full amount she said she'd give me, it's just over half, but she said she'll send the rest as soon as they can, and it's enough for me to get a new laptop and to get started on buying stock, so I'm still happy!

awh glad you kinda managed to get it sorted Mindi 🙂

I had a great time out with my friend on Saturday! I literally was completely covered in glitter and stuck stars all over my face and had a fabulous time dancing away. I even drunk texted Pippa haha!
And things at home are starting to get nice and back to normal, Chris even cleared our garden of the junk that I've been asking him to get rid of for the last year, so thats an improvement! 😀

*yay*  Hooray Mindi!!!  That's wonderful news!!!

And Glitter...  *1*  cheers for you that you had a good night out AND for the things looking up at home, too.

I had to look for a wedge pillow for some physical therapy exercises I am to do to help sort out my tummy issues.  I literally could not find one in any store locally... so I talked to a friend today and she made a suggestion.  If I have to buy one online and have it shipped... she said I may as well buy one with a dual purpose.  I gave her a wry smile, and then we both busted up laughing because I knew JUST what she meant based on a previous conversation we had had recently.  I'm getting a wedge from liberator.com (warning NWKS)... so it'll work for physical therapy and a little therapy with the Mr.  *whip*  ;D  I'm so excited!  😛

Mindi, Glitter and Momma, that's all great news 😀

I had my first UK manual driving lesson this weekend and I have my next scheduled for tomorrow.  LOL I'm by no means a natural when it comes to clutch control, but I'm getting there and I enjoyed most of it.  My instructor is a lovely old man who used to teach advanced driving courses for Rover, and when they went bust he took his retirement and pension, so he honestly does this because he loves it.  He's super-chill and relaxed and laughs a lot and just really puts me at ease.

Driving with both feet is so weird, though, as is letting off the accelerator while trying to navigate roundabouts.  I'm ok with shifting gears when I'm going on a straight line, lol, but trying to do it while going around a giant circle takes some getting used to.  I'm at the stage where I both like it and dislike it, because I find it a bit overwhelming at times, but I like the stuff I already know how to do from driving an automatic in the states 😀

It's also really difficult to think of roundabouts as traffic suggestions instead of junctions and not stop at every single one if there's a clear path.

You'll get there! And with roundabouts, I don't think many Brits like them either!

Wait til you unexpectedly hit a double roundabout. That'll screw with your brain! Thankfully there aren't too many of them around lol They're fine when you get used to them, but that first time is weird.
