Here's how it happened.  And the more I look at it, the more I'm absolutely loving it.  Colleagues certainly noticed: one said she thought I got my hair professionally done, and another said this is the best blonde she's seen yet.









Looks different in different lights, and mobile camera flashes, of course, but the top row of pics is probably the most true to life.

Used this stuff (Nirvel ArtX Nutre Color Grey):



Mixed with just a tiny bit of this stuff (Crazy Color Natural Blond) on bits that needed some neutralising:



Ended up squeezing loads of the Nirvel into the conditioner without realising how much, so hey ho.  If the pictures don't show it, it's quite a lot darker than it was, even darker in contrast to my skin now, still on the 'blonde' end of the scale, but very deep and ultra ashy, yay...

Thanks so much, gals!  After a week and a half and two shampoos, the depth and darkness started to fade, so I put some more in tonight.


I had my dance class tonight though, before I washed and re-dyed, and for the class, I wore a white scrunchie to hold my hair back.  Now the scrunchie is white and purple.

I've officially experienced semi-dye transfer.

Just to share this past weekend's experiment that I mentioned before.  It was driving me mad seeing such distinct roots in the back when I parted my hair, and not that I ever wear my hair so you can see those roots in the back, but I just don't want to keep bleaching them out.  Plus, I love the lowlight look, and I haven't had that yet as a blonde, so I hope to create it myself!

At the weekend, I took my Nirvel ArtX grey, mixed with some Nice 'n' Easy light ash brown semi and a small bit of conditioner, and blended the roots as best I could.

And it's starting to get some 'depth' when all my hair is down, which I like:



It's not quite there yet, so I think I'll keep being gutsy and deepening the underlayers so I can avoid bleach as much as possible.  Don't know about the top yet, but perhaps I'll come up with another cunning plan!

I use the Nirvel ArtX grey all the time.  I love the ashy effect, and yes, you can dilute it or use it more saturated depending upon the effect you want to achieve.

I was a very golden blonde, toning with Pravana Silver and other silvering products, then I tried a good saturation of the Nirvel grey, and I loved the effect.

Recently, I've been using it nearly undiluted to achieve a more gradated ombré, and though I first used a light brown permanent colour at the roots a couple weeks ago, this past weekend I covered it and blended it more with the Nirvel, just on the underlayers and top... this is how it looked after this weekend's colouring:



(I also did a colour remover at the ends, that's why it looks more golden toward the bottom.  It's still a work in progress. )

I really like how much better the underlayer blends in the after pictures it looks really good, and makes your roots look loads more intentional.
