pet cage cleaning tip I found! (For metal)
« on: 01 Feb 12 / 11:50 AM »
I was surprised this tip worked so well so thought id share it!
I recently bought a 2nd hand hamster cage, its one of the ones with all the tubes, every one of the metal anti gnaw rings was rusty so I soaked them in vineger overnight (i put in a little sparkling water but dunno how much that helped) and this morning they were all pretty much clean. I scrubbed them with steel wool and they are practically good as new.
Yay for vinegar! Seems it has plenty of uses :)

My mum's a cleaner and when she has to clean anything tough she uses vinegar mixed with bicarbonate of soda - fizzy powder - so I guess the bubbles must help! She chucks in a little lemon juice too.

XD Vinegar is great for cleaning.

It also removes stubborn stuck-on food off of stove burners.

When I need to clean a wirecage of rust. I wrap the rusty wires in aluminium foil and coca cola. It just dissolves. Just like throwing a rusty/dirty nickel in a glass of coke.
