purple hair AND I DONT EVEN LIKE PURPLE
« on: 30 Jan 12 / 09:07 PM »
NOOOOO

Bought a new shade of pink, wanted it deeper.... I got fuschia shock by manic panic. I was seeing pictures on the internet like this-

And this is what I got-

It's too normal box dyish purple for me, but I'm hoping it will fade to a nice pink... how many washing up liquid washes do you think I'll need? or should I stop my bitching and whinging and keep the purple?

This was over faded atomic pink with bleached roots btw, I really dont understand how it happened...

If its anything like directions cerise it will fade lighter

It went from like yours now to this in a few wks (minimal washing)-(and excuse the silly photo lol)

(lighter in real light) and got brighter as it faded-it eventually ended up like the first photo (just cant find piccie)

winner! thanks :) I think I might stick it out till the end of the week and see how I feel about it then after I've styled it and worn it and stuff. If I still dislike it ill just put my head in the washing machine or summing, ha

Don't worry, it should fade within 2 weeks of normal washes (use warm water, decent shampoo etc.) and be a nice cerise/pink :) Dyes always start off darker than they look on the box but usually fade to how it should be

Yours is lovely - but I share you pain - I've had so many colours not come out as expected.

The closest I've ever come to your reference pink hair photo is Directions Rose Red - but not left on for longer than 10 mins in my hair - it's really strong on mine, but comes out a gorgeous deep pink, rather than red. I had to bleach it really pale though. The best time was my first ever semi-perm dye job at age 17 (which was rose-red), I properly bleached my whole head of natural auburn hair (which put my mum in shock I dare say!) and the dye came out very much like your 1st photo.

I find dye always fades to the colour that was on my hands/shirt/bathroom sink.  Judging by that photo, I'd say within a few washes you'll have that bright pink that you're after :)

haha thats good because my hands are VERY pink!!

I'm growing to kinda like the purple though. I think I'll just wash as normal and let it fade naturally. I got a lot of compliments at my school from the kids and my colleagues- so I guess it can stay for now :)

Both atomic and fuschia are purple based so it obviously brought that out when you added to atomic. Looks great though! I agree it'll fade nicely.

Your hair looks awsome.. Just how I want it to be.. How long did it take before it faded to that? and did you only use Fushia by Manic Panic? I heard Special Effects is better, but I loved that color you had.. I'm very reluctant to do it though if it washes out after week like Stargazer..

Can't I just take your hair? I am so jealous of taht hair..

Thanks! I only used Fushia, I do agree special effects pinks are better BUT its not as runny and if I have to dye myself I just find MP easier to use.

It took about 2 weeks to fade to this colour above. To do my WHOLE head took about 4/5ths of the pot so I filled it 3/4 of the way full again with conditioner and did a half hour top up job about 2 days ago, which pumped it back up to lovely pink maximum brightness (was starting to look SLIGHTLY orange toned in places, only really slightly in the sun but it bugged me!) :)
