Thanks Squishy000!  I don't really sell things anymore (handmade dresses are too expensive for most people at the moment when they can buy a dress for 12 at primark!), but I do still take orders occasionally.

I like the first one best! And about your dreads in your pic: did you make them yourself?

You guys are all so talented! I use to draw when I was younger. It was a great way to relax my mind. I have some sketches around here somewhere but I don't even have 1/2 the talent that all you guys have!

I know, it's really sad.  I nearly cried when I saw the Asda "100 day guarantee" banners.  We don't expect anything to last more than three months?  That's so sad.

I guess I'm one of a dying breed that has never, nor will ever, set foot in a Primark.  I'd rather save up for one awesome piece that lasts me a looong time.  Then again, I'm not the type to buy anything on finance ... I dunno, I guess saving up for a quality piece matters more to me than having something *right now*.

Tweetyeti - I didn't make the dreads in my avatar pic, but after I'd had them done in London, I did research making them and did expand out into alternative hair extensions for a while. Again, I had the same problem, people want something for nothing and didn't want to pay for the time it takes to make a set of dread extensions (about 15 - 25 hours of work plus the time it takes to braid them into someone's hair), so I never managed to get a business off the ground because I wasn't making enough of a profit.

Bluelabyrinth - I didn't keep any of the sketches of the dresses, sometimes I work from a sketch and sometimes I don't, it just depends on whether or not I need to put it down onto paper to work out how to make certain parts of the item or not.

Thanks for all the lovely comments! I did try to work as a fashion designer/hairdresser on a self-employed basis for a while, but the business folded because I wasn't making enough profit. At the time, I got very disheartened about it, thinking that I just wasn't good enough for people to want to buy my dresses or hair extensions, but looking back, I think it was just that people didn't want to pay higher amounts for quality original pieces.

If anyone wants to check out my full portfolio, I have a page on facebook, just type 'Little Wicked Designs' into the search bar!

Like, say i wanted long purple, blue and pink ones, and have them braided in? Oh! and where are you based? im gonna have to wait for my hair to grow though  :-[ all my hairs gone again, darn it -_-  :P

ill shut up now.. ;D

Thanks very much CyberPunk!  I charge between 150 and 175 for a full head of waist length dreads, and I'm based in Hastings, East Sussex.  If that's too far for you, I can make a set of dreads and post them to you with full instructions for installation, which would be slightly cheaper, as about 40 of the cost is for the installation of the dreads.

Oh, and the short version of the dress with the flames is sadly not possible to make anymore.  The style is, but that particular fabric is out of print and I can't get hold of anymore.  I can still get hold of the flame fabric on the long dress with the flames though, so if that's the one you're talking about, that's fine!

ooo thats really good actually!!  and hmm i could get them posted, but knowing me id probably not be able to put them in.. :P ohhh but i gotta wait for my hair.. how long does it have to be for them to be installed?? :)

:O Nooooo!! well, i still LOVE the style, so i still want one, just have to have a different print... which is still cool, considering it'll be hand made and unique! :D Oooh! i have my birthday soon! I think i know what ill be spending my money on!! :P

It's almost impossible to install the dreads yourself (trust me, I've done it!), so if they were posted to you, you'd have to get a friend to do the installation for you.  It's not difficult on someone else, but it is repetitive and takes about 2-3 hours, so preferably a really good friend!

sorry, forgot to say that your hair should be at least 4-6 inches long for installation of the dreads, but the longer it is, the better they seem to stay in!

places like primark and george etc are killing or preventing small buisnesses, which is very sad, but as a student myself i love primark, and people say the clothes fall apart, but they must be swimming in acid, i still have alot of nice tshirts etc still colour and in one piece where my essex friend who loves his big brands one i dont know but when i went shopping with him and he spent about 600pounds on couple polo shirts and a shirt i almost had a heart attack annnnd his logo is fraying!!! so not always more money better gear, brands just theiving toe wrags... same example, primark cheap fake vans 10 and another mates got real vans and hes been 2 pairs since september yet primark still going find lol

Buuut there needs to be a way small buisnesses can start and get foot in some retail profit without the major demand of right now and for next to no money...

That's why I love shopping on independent store websites. (ShanaLogic based in the states, DollyDagger based in the UK are two of my favourites.)
