At a complete loss with bleaching my hair >.<
« on: 03 May 14 / 05:52 PM »
Hi,

I have never done a DIY job on my hair so I'm at a complete loss as to what to do.  I had my hair professionally done (which was a disaster!!) then had to get someone to do a color correct when I was on holidays in America.  She was able to give me an even blonde color.  Now, I have roots and I don't know a stylist to go to locally as I'm afraid to end up looking banded and brassy.

I have naturally dark hair (it's between a mid to dark brown).  I have been looking up different bleaches and developers, but I'm still at a loss as to what I should do.  I really would like to have a dark beige blonde rather than the bright blonde I have now, but afraid to actually process the rest of my hair.

I guess history would be important.  My hair had been getting highlights to gradually lift me to a blonde.  When the girl who was doing my highlights got fired the salon owner took over and lets just say my hair turned out to be a disaster (Grey, Yellow, Orange, White, nasty).  I got it fixed by another professional and I use the Schwarzkopf Bonacure shampoo on my hair (it's a really deep purple) which has kept my hair a cool ashy.  I also use the TIGI So Serious conditioner religiously as it keeps my hair very soft and strong.  However, now I need to touch up my roots.

What bleach/developer do you guys feel are really good?  Is there a way to blend my hair so that my hair won't have a banded or halo look to it?  What toners do you guys feel are best?  I have been reading and doing research but I'm just honestly afraid to touch my hair without some proper guidance.  Should I bleach my roots then tone my whole head white and apply a dye to give me the dark blonde look I want? I'm absolutely clueless if you can't tell.

Thank you so much for any advice I really appreciate it!

Do you have a photo of what your hair looks like at the moment, and the color you want it to be? It would help a lot in figuring out what process to do/colors to use :)
Always remember to consider what your hair is going to feel like after processing it BEFORE you do it! Test strands, treatments/oils are important when it comes to hair, but the most important thing is patience!
