Hey everyone, being quite new to this site and having seen some of the posts on various products I thought I'd share a recipe for a hair mask I've used a few times :]

I find this works best for me when I've just washed, shampooed and combed my hair through, but you can use it on dry hair if you want to.

You will need:
1/2 a banana
1/2 an avocado
4 large strawberries
1/3 a cup (approx. 75ml) of coconut oil
1 tea spoon (approx. 5ml) of baking soda

Step 1:
Peel & chop the banana in to small pieces, half & pit the avocado and scoop the fruit out. De-stalk the strawberries and cut in to quarters.

Step 2:
Blend the fruit mixture in to a purée. Alternatively, mash the fruit with a fork until it has an even consistency. Strain through a fine meshed sieve with the back of a spoon.

Step 3:
Gradually mix in the coconut oil and baking soda.

Step 4:
Apply to your hair and leave for around 10-20 minutes (perhaps take this time to eat the rest of those strawberries ;])

Step 5:
Rinse thoroughly and style as normal.

Voila! Please note the measurements I've used here are just a rough guideline, depending on the length and thickness of your hair you may need less/more. This mixture can also be stored in the fridge for up to a week :]

I'm curious - baking soda & coconut oil are both known for stripping out semi colours - have you found any colour loss using this mask?

To be honest, I've never really used a semi colour so I wouldn't know; but I do find it removes a bit of the build up from my permanent dye :]

I'm just really loving the idea of smearing stuff in your hair, licking your fingers, and constantly keep eating from it while doing something else xD

I'm actually confused by the baking soda in it. It seems utterly counterintuitive that its in there, it's really drying. Do you know the reason for using it?

To be fair I just use it for product build up and cleansing purposes; you could just use the other ingredients if you wanted to, that's the beauty of it, customization :]

Interesting. I would use it before hand with the shampoo rather than in the conditioner, but if it works for you great! :)
