Tangle Teezer (long post, I have too much to say)

So I bought a tangle teezer the other day after wanting to get one for a while. If you don't know, the tangle teezer is a detangling hairbursh which featured on Dragon's Den- sadly, he didn't get an investment, but the tangle teezer took off anyway and he still made it! πŸ™‚ You can get them from the site (www.tangleteezer.co.uk) and in most Boots stores, but the cheapest I could find was less than a tenner on ebay- free p&p!

There are lots of models, I got an original in bubblegum pink.

So here are the tests I put it through and how it fared. My hair is shoulder length and quite fine with layers,  small amount of damage- nothing extreme!

Test 1- Standard dry brushing. Worked EXACTLY as described- swept through my tangles with ease and was much more comfortable to use! The site says the rougher you use it the better- this holds true, if you brush too lightly you can't even feel it on your head. Very impressed!

Test 2- Sweaty post workout hair. Last night I went trampolining- my hair was a sweaty mess, fudged up from clips and hairbands and being thrown around all over the place. Again, the tangle teezer easily worked out the knots as before, even the horrible ones on the nape of my neck.

Test 3- Backcombed mess! Before I had my shower I made part of my hair into a backcombed morning-after style disaster- with hairspray! (although I do use brush-out). I love backcombing my hair for a night out, so a brush that can handle the aftermath would be great. Here are some before and after pictures- as you can see, the tangle teezer yet again handled this perfectly- and quite unbelievably, to get my hair from pic 1 to pic 2 took less than 10 seconds! (Note- this is totally not how I would do my hair for a night out :P)

Final test- The shower/wet hair. The tangle teezer combed through wet towel dried mess hair easily, I could get my whole head from mess to sleek in about 30 seconds, no problem. Absolutely brilliant. In the shower, I found the lack of handle meant it kept falling out of my hand- although you can buy grippy ones specially made for the shower, I don't want to spend extra, so this was annoying. It was good at distributing the conditioner through my hair and made it feel kitten soft when I washed it out. However, when blow drying/styling afterwards I found myself going back to the normal handled hairbrush as trying to blow dry and use the tangle teezer at the same time was too tricky- not only that, I kept burning my fingers πŸ™

EDIT- apparently you aren't supposed to use it when heat styling anyway cos it might melt- whoops!

FINAL VERDICT!

Buy this hairbrush. It would be better with a handle- but aside from that, everything about it is perfect and I already love my tangle teezer! It's a bit pricey but for a good quality hairbrush that will last I would say it is worth every penny. 9/10 πŸ™‚ <3

Just wanna add that on the packaging or in the lil booklet (i've read it somewhere) it does say not to use it when heat styling as it can melt the little bristles. But otherwise I love my tangle teezer, I use it on wet hair during/straight after the shower and fine i have minimal shedding and it smooths my hair down but doesn't stop my curls from forming. It's nice to be able to brush my hair again without it freaking out lol

Oooooo I really want one! the long haired community said it gives you split ends though? I don't really know how it would though, plus I'm sure my straighteners do worse haha. I'm gonna get one in payday

I thought they were all for it? Cause it has no nobbly bits on the end of the brushes which are apparently bad for hair. I'm curious now lol

I want one!  I also found these, which are basically the same but by a different brand and they have a handle! They apparently cater to type too (fine/normal/thick)

I love my tangle teezer so much, Ive got one of those travel ones too with the lid to stop the bristles getting bent. I love it. I always brush my hair through with that them use a paddle brush if i need to smooth it out or im brushing product in like leave in conditoner

Well, I have to add that I don't like it. I don't really believe in being rough with brushes, but I had read it was better to be rough so I tried it. It did nothing! Just went OVER any tangles. It kind of bounced off them! So I gave up after trying it a few times and went back to my denman, brushing from the ends first and working up. Doesn't take long.

Maybe it's the curlyness factor?

I just use mine when it's wet now. But even then I find I have to shove it in to my scalp and run it through solidly like that or it doesn't get through.
