I'm at my parents' and as far as I know it will be turkey and pork, with Xmas pudding and custard after :)

We're having ham and the classic American trimmings. My aunt makes an amazing chocolate trifle. I'm in charge of sugar cookies. Hopefully, I'll also get to make the mashed potatoes.

Last year, I hosted friends and made vegan takoyaki and tiny fruit-filled wontons.

Turkey crown, potatoes roasted in goose fat, sprouts, carrots, stuffing ... for after, my OH has a Christmas pudding with brandy sauce and I have a chocolate sponge pudding with custard because I'm not a fan of the Christmas pud or Christmas cake.

And I've got two Christmas Eve buffets, one at work and one at home :D

We're having cockerel. Though we might not be as it came with a weird lump in the middle of the breast which is a little disturbing... We've emailed the farm that sent it, it's probably nothing, but it looks like some giant cyst! So we might be having the big bit of beef we have instead!

I'm then doing sprouts, roast carrot, parsnips and potatoes (for some reason I love making roast potatoes!), I'm making apple sauce as I love that with poultry, cranberry sauce... Other stuff I can't remember.

Then to finish off I'm making figgy pudding, which is a fav of mine. Actually, I need to make that today to save some on Xmas day!

My family is going with traditional German food for tomorrow - Rouladen (the only meat dish that I'd really love to eat again), potato dumplings and red cabbage. I'm going to have the dumplings and red cabbage with some kind of meat substitute made from cashews and peanuts - should be interesting! Then for dessert, we're going to have ice cream :3
the magic exists.
stay gold.

Everything sounds yum!

I made the pastry shell for the chocolate tart today, it's in the freezer waiting to be blind baked, filled and baked tomorrow. OH is cooking the main on Christmas day as I have to collect my skids and bring them back; a 3-hour round trip, I will be ready for a cider when I get home.

Janine, I have never eaten a cockerel, is the taste meant to be like chicken only a little stronger, similar to guinea fowl? I understand your reservations about the strange bump; here's hoping you have a fab lunch even if it turns out to be beefy :)

I think it's supposed to be more like turkey, but enough like chicken to make us happy as we're not keen on turkey! I've not had it for a long long time so I'm not sure anymore exactly how it tastes.

We've pretty much decided to keep the beef for now, but go and get something from the butcher tomorrow (wish we'd done that all along) and cook the cockerel later as it really doesn't look pretty! A friend of my mum said if it's boney, it's likely to be just that, bone. If not then it could be a tumour. I think it's probably bone, it does feel like bone. So we'll cook it when it's a time you're not worried about how it looks, you know?

I am getting excited about it now though, I love cooking roasts!

Last night we had a culotte roast with veggies and brown sauce.  Today will be the left overs with bearnaise sauce and potato wedges.

For Xmas dinner, we ended up having butternut squash, chestnut and bramley apple soup. Then roast capon and all the xmas trimmings. And figgy pudding after. I'm really happy with how the figgy pudding came out. I used to have an amazing recipe for it, but it got lost a few years ago and I've been trying to find a good replacement since. Looks like I have it at last!

Tonight, while my mum and step dad are with his family, we're having the left over roast potatoes fried up with the left over sprouts and parsnips! yummy :D

Tonight we had a traditional Danish "Christmas Lunch".  Lots of different stuff but my favorite was the smoked salmon.  Love that stuff! :D

My mum's off out tonight so I'm making myself something spicy... Pasta with tinned plum tomatoes, onions, peppers, shredded chicken, chorizo, herbs and a pinch of Cajun pepper, om nom nom.

I have splashed out a bit for tonight and bought tuna steaks. I pan fry them and then slice them up, and we put them in tortilla wraps with sliced avocado and sliced tomatoes, dollop on some sour cream and a sprinkle of chopped coriander yum!
