Lip balm!
« on: 05 Jul 14 / 04:10 PM »
I'll start off with a little backstory aha.

Basically I've picked my lips to the point of bleeding for about a year and I've recently stopped. At first I was using Whip Stick from Lush which worked for a bit but then as it wears off my lips start to feel hard and then as soon as it's worn off they just crack and peel all over again.
I bought some Carmex last week and it worked really well at first, as in my lips actually felt how they're supposed to and 5 days later it's doing exactly the same as Whip Stick.

It seems like every lip balm I use does this eventually.
I drink 2-3 litres of water every day and although I don't eat meat I make sure I eat plenty of spinach/other green leaves and I generally have a good diet so it can't really be vitamin deficiency.

I was just wondering if anyone had some lip balm recommendations because I'm just so tempted to start picking my lips again because nothing's working and I just wanna wear lipstick without my lips looking/feeling awful :(

My lips peel when I'm stressed which is a lot atm.

Lush do a lip scrub which I use a few times a month to help get rid of the dry dead skin.

Lip balm wise, I love Palmers cocoa butter lip balm and Burts Bees.

I'm currently using a L'Occitane lip balm but it's not really worth the cost.

I have a Lush scrub but my lips are so sore that I can't really use it at the moment without it making my lips bleed.

I might try the Palmers as cocoa butter agrees with my skin in general and it can't hurt to try!

When mine get dry and cracked I always go for the body shop hemp one. It's amazing and I really can't recommend it enough. It's the only one I've found that works when mine get that bad.
It's better to regret something you've done than something you haven't.

^ I've tried the hemp one, and as with most others it works at first and then stops :(

Tbh I think it might just be because I've picked my lips for so long and now I've finally stopped they don't really know what to do with themselves.
I found my eczema cream with lanolin in before so I put a bit of that on and for now I'm just carrying on alternating with Whip Stick and Carmex until I can get to a shop.

The Palmers one is on 3 for 2 in Boots atm, just got myself 3 of them. One for home, one for work and one for my bag.

Boots No.7 do a lip conditioner that's not quite a balm but is wonderful for softening. Worth getting if you have one of those 5 off No.7 vouchers that Boots often do.
